Start Time: 9 am – End Time: 1 pm
Meeting point: MRT Queen Sirikit Convention Center, Gate No. 2
After a quick bike fitting and a brief orientation, the journey begins by cycling through the back roads towards Bang Krachao.
- Bangkachao - Ferry to Bangkrachao and Cycle along the River Banks
Take a local motorcycle ferry across the bustling Chao Phraya River. Then, cycle along elevated bike paths through local villages and plantations.
The Old Betel Nut Garden
Pause for some homemade refreshments in a family garden with stunning views of the Chao Phraya River, and take a moment to observe the ship and barge traffic on the river.
The Firefly Garden
Before human settlement, Bang Krachao was a vast mangrove forest that would illuminate at night with fireflies. Today, the local community has established a reserve where visitors can see the mangroves as they once were and where fireflies can thrive. Although fireflies are not visible during the day, visitors are welcome to return at night.
- Wat Bang Nam Phueng Nok - The Ganesh Shrine
Winding away from the mangroves through villages and local Buddhist temples, stop to visit a shrine dedicated to Ganesh, the Hindu god of beginnings and remover of obstacles. Devotees in Thailand have created a beautiful shrine to Ganesh in Bangkrachao.
Wat Bang Namphueng Nok
As the Bang Krachao trail concludes, take a moment to visit the historic temple of Wat Bang Nam Phueng Nok and enjoy some refreshments before crossing back over the Chao Phraya River.

Discover the cyclist’s paradise of Bangkok’s green lung, Bang Krachao, with its seemingly endless elevated biking paths winding through fertile mangrove forests, small farms, quiet villages and Buddhist temples. Strict zoning and geography have protected its mangrove forests, coconut plantations and gardens from the urban sprawl of Bangkok making it into Bangkok’s Hidden Oasis.
Pedal your way through back lanes and alleys to the ferry. Once you and your bicycle are across the Chao Phraya River in Bang Krachao, the real biking pleasure begins.
Cycle quiet pathways at a leisurely pace where all you will encounter are birds, a few squirrels and maybe a lizard or two. Park your bike to visit a family at an old betel nut plantation for a snack, then check out a mangrove conservation area before pedaling on through the maze of tree-lined bike paths to a shrine to the Hindu God Ganesh before arriving at a local temple and market
