Wonderful Sydney - - We sailed into Sydney Harbour on the Queen Anne, a Cunard ship making its maiden voyage around the world and its first visit to Sydney. A fire boat escorted us into the harbour with a water salute, and the first views of the skyline, the Opera House, the famour bridge, the many different kinds of vessels on the water, was just amazing. The five day visit did not disappoint, and the welcoming people we met make us want to return.

A great disappointment: merely a long drive without the promised “expert guide”. - Admittedly, the weather didn’t help; neither did the fact that our excellent tour the previous day had been conducted by a particularly knowledgeable and informative driver/guide with excellent people skills. This tour could not have been more different. Our driver was certainly not an “expert guide (who would) share insider knowledge, making this journey not just a sightseeing tour, but an immersive experience that connects (us) with the natural beauty and hidden gems of New South Wales”! He was very quietly spoken, such that I could hear nothing he said whilst driving, despite sitting in the second row of the minibus. Not that he said very much: indeed, he offered virtually no information regarding the areas through which we were travelling or the sights we were passing, other than in response to direct questions. Neither the promised “coffee and/or tea” nor “WiFi on board” materialised although, when the latter was pointed out to our driver, he did enable a “hotspot” on his cellphone, which allowed me to access Google Maps to see where we were. The tour was conducted in a different order to that described at the operator’s website, our first stops being Bald Hill Lookout and Sea Cliff Bridge, thence to Kiarna Blowhole and Hyam’s Beach on Jervis Bay. This was unfortunate, as sea fog and a low overcast greatly restricted visibility until Kiarna, by which point the sea fog had cleared, although the low overcast was to persist for the remainder of the trip. We realise, of course, that neither the tour operator nor our driver can be held responsible for the weather, but one can only wonder whether, had the advertised route been followed, the forecast sea fog might have been avoided. At the Hyam’s Beach stop, our driver enquired as to our lunch plans: not knowing the area, we were rather expecting him to suggest to us where we might eat! He then suggested the rather unattractive town of Nowra, through which we had passed earlier, but I enquired whether Jervis Bay Village might be more agreeable. He appeared to concur, but it soon became apparent that we were heading in the opposite direction, towards Nowra; on pointing this out, he claimed to be taking a shortcut, which seemed unlikely in view of our direction of travel. We eventually ended up travelling to Husskison for our lunch stop. No mention was made of any “optional dolphin-watching cruise”. We than headed inland, with a brief stop at Hampden Bridge. As we climbed towards Kangaroo Valley, we soon entered cloud and did not re-emerge until well beyond Glenquarry, so we saw very little of the Valley. From this point, the return journey to Sydney proceeded largely in silence. To say that our day had been a massive disappointment would be something of an understatement. The only positive thing that could be said about this tour was than we had been picked up at our hotel rather than at Circular Quay. Avoid!

Not as advertised - This tour was not what was advertised. Pro: - private tour - picked up at hotel instead of other site - changed itinerary during trip to go to Featherdale Wildlife park per our request since we were not happy Con Advertised but not true: Expert Guide - not offered, only a driver and he did not talk (example at first stop dropped us off we had to ask where to go) Tea/coffee- not offered Wifi on board - not offered Bottled water - not offered Took us to waterfall instead of Kangaroo valley and stroll through village. Had to request to go to Hampden bridge and driver was unaware although listed in tour stops. FYI - we contacted tour operator prior to tour through viator but did not get a response until we contacted viator directly
