Additional Information

Take a break from the city life of Dublin for a day and join us for a unique whiskey journey to the heartland of Ireland - its picturesque countryside. Enjoy friendly chats with your Whiskey Expert Host while driving through the beautiful rural landscapes, before reaching the Kilbeggan Distillery, one of the oldest working distilleries in Ireland known for its renowned Kilbeggan whiskey. Following our distillery tour and whiskey tasting, we take a halt at Athlone, a charming town featuring Ireland’s most ancient pub - Sean’s. Sean’s introduces two exclusively house-branded whiskeys, which we’ll sample after you’ve enjoyed some leisure time in Athlone, probably for a bite. Fantastic 3 day tour of Irish Distilleries - We recently did a 3 day trip with John, starting with a pickup in Dublin, then heading to Kilkenny, then to Cork before making our trip back to Dublin and I can say from the very 1st engagement with John he was a pleasure to deal with. Responsive, professional and obviously very knowledgeable, not only on the Whiskeys but the general areas and then places to stay, eat and drink. As a group of 3 we have done a number of these tours in Scotland, but 1st time we have visited Ireland but couldn’t recommend John any higher, he planned everything for us, taking onboard our wishes and feedback where it made sense or providing alternatives if it didn’t. As mentioned he’s passionate about Irish Whiskey and has great knowledge on it, but this includes a well put together tour. We enjoyed all of the distilleries we visited and John made it simple for us, having every part of the tour planned and sorted out before we even arrived at the place. He also did a great job of keeping us on a timeline, to be in the right place at the right time. He also booked and sorted out our hotels for Kilkenny and Cork, and both were fantastic hotels! Overall, I would recommend visiting some Irish Distilleries, some really good ones out there and I would highly recommend doing it with John he was excellent!

Brilliant few days! - John was brilliant. He took me and 2 friends of a whisky trip to various distilleries over a 3 day period. He was great, arranged everything as asked, to a high standard and was a pleasure to have as our guide. Having done over 10 such trips, usually across Scotland, John was one of the best. We will certainly be using him again when we return to Ireland.

Whiskey tour to the countryside - I was entertaining some colleagues who were in Ireland for our company summit. I know they love whiskey and I wanted them to see a bit of the Irish countryside. I found this tour online and it exceeded expectations! Not only are the visits to the distilleries and bars unique and very different, but John fills in the gaps wonderfully with commentary on the whiskey scene, and Ireland. A great tour from beginning to end.

Ideal for the corporate market - I had heard from other Dublin corporates that they had a really positive experience working with John. We were looking for a high end / premium experience and that’s exactly what we got . From the time John picked us up at our Dublin office in an executive 16 seater , until drop off , it was a highly professional operation throughout . This is not the last time we’ll work with John !

Unforgettable whiskey trip to the middle of Ireland - I’ve been meaning to write this since June! My cousins were visiting from New York and are huge Tullamore Dew fans. I wanted to bring them to the home of Tullamore but then I saw this full day tour by Whiskey Island which included old Kilbeggan and the oldest pub in Ireland too, I liked the idea of none of us having to drive! It was PERFECTION from beginning to end, not a single flaw.

Great tour! - This bespoke tour was ideal for me as someone who wanted to learn about Irish whiskey making. I got to not only see the beautiful Irish countryside, but toured Tullamore and Kilbaggen distilleries. What a fascinating juxtaposition between the brand-new Tullamore and the ancient Kilbaggen sites. One thing was clear between the two: Irish whiskey making is a long founded tradition and the distilleries are proud to be in service. The tour finished in the lovely town of Athlone at Sean’s where I was introduced to Timothy. He was also a wonderful source of the history of Irish whiskey making. John, of Whiskey Island, was quick to respond to any questions I had and my driver/guide, Colm, was well informed and provided a ton of information about Ireland. I am now planning on Whiskey Island’s remote tasting for some guests when I return home!

Best trip to Irish countryside and whiskey distilleries - We had the best day, going through the Irish countryside and visiting 2 iconic Irish whiskey tours. We had a private chat with the owner of Sean’s Bar in Athlone (the oldest verified pub in Ireland) and learned all about the origins of whiskey. Film was wonderful-knowledgeable and friendly. Very happy to share Irish history between stops. Would HIGHLY recommend!!!
