- Devon House - Renowned as one of Jamaica’s most esteemed historic sites, the Devon House Mansion was the architectural vision of Jamaica’s first black millionaire, George Stiebel. Stiebel amassed his fortune through gold mining in South America and was one of three affluent Jamaicans who built grand homes in the late 19th century at the intersection of Trafalgar Road and Hope Road, aptly named Millionaire’s Corner.
The Devon House mansion is a stunning fusion of Caribbean and Georgian architecture, adorned with a meticulously curated selection of Jamaican, English, and French antique pieces and reproductions. The mansion overlooks expansive, meticulously maintained, lush green lawns. Stiebel’s legacy endures with the beautifully preserved Devon House, which was designated a national monument in 1990 by the Jamaica National Heritage Trust, following the directive of the Rt. Hon. Edward Seaga, who was then the Minister of Development.
