Highlights
  • Fort Charlotte - Perched 600 feet above sea level on a ridge, Fort Charlotte provides breathtaking views of Kingstown and the Grenadines Islands. The former commanders’ quarters house fascinating paintings by Lindsay Prescott that illustrate the history of the local Black Caribs. Today, the Fort stands as a historical landmark.

Interestingly, unlike most Caribbean forts, this one was constructed to protect the island from local inland Caribs rather than a naval invasion.

  • Owia Salt Pond - The Owia Salt Pond is a two-hour drive along St. Vincent’s scenic eastern coast from the Carib settlement of Owia on the northeastern coast. Along the way, you can see the Rabacca Dry River, created by the ash flow from the 1902 eruption of La Soufrière Volcano, the Black Point Tunnel, which the British carved out using slave labor in 1815, and some of the world’s finest black sand beaches.
