• Iby’iwacu Cultural Village - Iby’iwacu Cultural Village is a must-visit destination on your return from a Golden Monkey or Gorilla trekking adventure.

Upon arrival, visitors will be inspired by the villagers who have persuaded a group of ex-poachers to abandon their former ways and form a traditional dance group that performs for guests during a cultural village tour. Known as The Intore, or The Heroes, this ancient celebration is rooted in the victory dance of the Rwandan kings. In addition to watching traditional dances and drumming performances, visitors can explore the traditional dwelling of the local king, observe an authentic medicine man preparing herbal remedies, or try their hand at shooting traditional bows and arrows.

• Volcanoes National Park - After a briefing at the park headquarters, a driver will take visitors to the starting point to enter the forest. The hike will last between 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the location of the Golden Monkeys.

Visitors will spend up to 1 hour with the Golden Monkeys before returning to the starting point, where the driver will be waiting to transport them to the Iby’iwacu Cultural Centre.

After a 1 to 2-hour hike, you will delight in spending an hour with these subspecies of the blue monkey. They will be relaxing in their territory and may sometimes approach you if you remain still. You will enjoy watching them leap from bamboo to bamboo, eating and playing with each other.
