Would recommend - Would definitely recommend this trip it's worth the early start. Our taxi driver Rapi was great and took us to our jeep driver Dobos who took lots of very impressive photos of us.

My. Batur sunrise jeep excursion - We loved this trip! The lovely Risa picked us up at 03:00 and drives us safely to the jeep park, where we transferred for the final leg to Mt. Batur. When we arrived at about 04:45 there was a great atmosphere. Eventually there was about 100 other jeeps with passengers on the roofs waiting for the sun rise. Our driver served us breakfast of coffee, banana sandwich, egg and a choc bar. The sun rise is spectacular and our driver took lots of photos of us on the roof with the emerging sun behind us. The driver then took us to the lava lake - this is lava deposited from the 1963 earthquake. Very other-worldly and cool - we had a little walk around, before we were drive back to the car park. Risa was happy to take us to a hot spring, but then we had changed our minds (we hadn’t paid upfront for this) and instead visited the beautiful and serene Lake Batur. All of this and we were dropped back at around 09:00. I’d really recommend this trip. We just paid for the taxi. And then paid cash for the jeep.
