• Mount Batur - Mount Batur (Gunung Batur) is an active volcano situated at the heart of two concentric calderas, northwest of Mount Agung on Bali Island, Indonesia. The southeast section of the larger 10×13 km caldera features a caldera lake. The inner caldera, measuring 7.5 kilometers wide, was formed during the emplacement of the Bali (or Ubud) ignimbrite, dating back approximately 23,670 to 28,500 years ago. The southeast wall of the inner caldera is submerged beneath Lake Batur; the Batur cone has been built within the inner caldera, rising above the outer caldera rim. The Batur stratovolcano has developed vents throughout the inner caldera, with a NE-SW fissure system concentrating the Batur I, II, and III craters along the summit ridge. Historical eruptions have involved mild-to-moderate explosive activity, occasionally accompanied by lava emissions. Basaltic lava flows from both summit and flank vents have historically reached the caldera floor and the shores of Lake Batur.
