Amazing Experience - Absolutely amazing experience with 2 incredibly lovely ladies. This mother daughter duo were so welcoming and attentive. We learned to make a traditional Nepalese meal using all natural ingredients from Thapa’s family village. I would highly recommend adding this as a must for your time in Kathmandu!

A good start of exploring Nepali Culture - My friends and I joined the cooking class on 9.6.2024 and it marked a good ending for our first trip of Nepal. Kalpana and her son are cheerful and warmly treated us just like part of their family and we really enjoy to cook in such a beautiful house with gorgeous garden. In this class, we were able to cook with fresh ingredients which are truely from farm to table and got a chance to know more about the food culture of Nepal. The food is very delious and we spend a happy time to talk, to cook with Kalpana family. High recommend to join the class!

Great food! Wonderful family!! - Our family had a wonderful time cooking with Kalpana and her son! Their place on the outskirts of the city was a nice, relaxing getaway from the chaos of Kathmandu. We were able to sit outside in their beautiful garden overlooking the city and mountains. We made Dal Baht (lentil stew with rice and sides) and also momos (dumplings). We were able to pick fresh veggies from their garden and were made to feel right at home. Everything was delicious! It was great spending time talking with a Nepalese family and we learned a lot about their food and culture. Highly recommend!

Peaceful cooking class with a magical garden - What a special cozy experience! Kalpana is such a warm, loving lady. Her family is so sweet and it felt so nice to be in her kitchen and garden. It was nice to get picked up and to drive a lil bit away from intensity of the city. I highly recommend!

If you want to learn to make delicious nepali food, this is the way to do it! - Cannot speak highly enough of Kalpanas cooking class. She was so welcoming and explaining what to do. She even made the momos gluten free when she learned we couldn't eat wheat (we were happy to just learn) and they were so good. We were excited as we are gluten intolerant and assumed we'd never know what a momo was like. Got to see her home garden and even play with the adorable family dog. If you want to learn to make delicious nepali food, this is the way to do it!

The must do cooking class in Nepal - This was one of the best things we did in Nepal, possibly the best to our surprise. We were welcomed into such a friendly environment and were actually made to feel like one of the family. I usually hate reviews that state that but this was actually felt as we were explained step by step clearly but kindly just like my mother. We shared our delicious cooking with the family and sat in their garden with a pleasant view. The food was great and we were provided possible alternatives to ingredients that we might not be able to get at home as well as a detailed pdf of recipes. Everything was kept so clean and fresh, especially the local produce was used throughout such as vegetables freshly picked from the garden. Our masterful host even altered a few recipes to accomodate our food allergies. I wish I took more photos of the food but honestly I was so keen to eat it all I only got the one! When I visit Nepal again I will be doing this class again, even if it’s identical. Thank you for the great memories!

A great culinary and cultural experience. - Thank you Kalpana for a wonderful day and experience that we will always remember. It was a great to learn not only about Nepali cooking and culture but to be treated to the generous and welcoming hospitality of your whole family at your small farm on the outskirts of Kathmandu made for an exceptional and fun day of learning that we thoroughly enjoyed. From the booking, through to arranging the pick up and drop off back to our hotel and your wonderful smile and patience in our attempts to make momos was matched by the wonderful food, our full bellys and lots of laughs. We would highly recommend this experience to anyone, and we now know where we will be staying and basing ourselves on our next visit to Nepal. Thank you.

Authentic Home & Garden Cooking Expeience - I had the pleasure of spending the day with Thapa Kalpana & her daughter touring her bountiful garden & seeing organic ingredients we were using. She is an absolute delight & filled with great cooking tips! Her class is in the suburbs of Kathmandu so you get a breath of fresh air & see where food is grown, plus experience her lovely kitchen! Her recipe's are yummy, her patience with attempts at Momo folding great, and the entire experience is filled with warmth & authenticity. If you can spare the time, it’s highly worth it! Very enjoyable & informative.
