These activities may include canoeing and visiting the Batwa Community, the Indigenous group residing on the slopes of Mount Muhabura.
Muhabura Hiking Day
Mount Muhavura - Early Morning Start: Following an early breakfast at the lodge, guests will be transported to the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park headquarters for a briefing by park rangers. This briefing will cover safety protocols, hiking routes, and what to expect during the climb.
Hiking Experience: The ascent of Mount Muhabura generally takes between 4 to 5 hours to reach the summit. Hikers are encouraged to pace themselves, appreciate the scenery, and utilize resting points along the trail. The path is steep and requires good physical fitness.
Summit Exploration: Upon reaching the summit (4,127 meters above sea level), hikers can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape and may have the opportunity to spot various wildlife species such as golden monkeys or mountain gorillas.
Descent and Return: After spending time at the summit for sightseeing and photography, hikers will descend back to the starting point.
