Avoid this tour - Please avoid this tour. My wife booked this trip through Viator for $220. The drivers came and picked us up and we took a small boat. The boat was set up to troll for anything that would bite. We zig zagged through the Indian Ocean for about 3 hours. We spotted some birds and headed toward them and hooked onto to a yellow tuna. I fought for about 30 minutes to land the fish with the reels. Once we got back one of the men on shore took the fish. They asked did I want to cook the fish and I said yes. Five minutes passed and I was told they were preparing the fish and they would take me back to the hotel and bring me back. No one called I contacted the guy the next day and was told the fisherman gave him a piece but he ate it. I contacted viator for a refund and was told the company denied it because we performed the activity and it didn’t say who gets to have the fish. I felt played because we were misled and it’s no way I should pay $220 to Bob around the Indian Ocean and paid for the gas and labored to get to the fish not to be able to taste or have it packed to take home. Some type communication should have been give prior to anything being done. I understand the economy of the Tanzanians and would have ok if asked first before the fish was taken from me. From my trip to Tanzania I don’t like how the Tanzanians are taken advantage of by people in power paying pennies while they keep all the profits. Please don’t book with this company. Also check how much the locals are making at all establishments you go to.
