Milos in Half a Nutshell - We had booked the Instagram tour as it was only 3 hours long and promised to take us to the island's most scenic places without stopping too long at any of them. We had booked it as a semi-private tour, which meant that others might join. Until the day before this didn't seem to be the case, but then the company received a last-minute booking for a 4-hour tour and thought they were doing us a favour by extending our 3-hour tour to four hours. It might have worked, but unfortunately they had not allowed for a bigger car, and so the three of us in the back travelled in very cramped conditions. Our guide was friendly and extremely knowledgeable, he very much seemed to enjoy his job. He took us to some really photograph-worthy sites and didn't hurry us along. Unfortunately, he got his timing very wrong at Sarakiniko. Instead of spending around 30 minutes in this otherworldly landscape, we dawdled there for twice as long. In the end we missed out on the Ancient Roman Theater altogether when we were meant to have 40 minutes here. If you stay on Milos, you will have more options for touring around, but if you visit on a cruise, the Instagram tour is probably one of the best land-based tours to give you a feel for the island.
