A must tour for the tourist! - If you manage to get Sula as your tour guide you are in for a treat. Sula was a lovely guide who with her extensive knowledge of both the Knossos palace ruins and Heraklion city but her quick wit & fabulous sense of humour made the tour that ever more enjoyable. Worth doing the tour and do visit the old fort in the port. That itself was amazing and nice & cool to walk around. Well done Sula and keep-up the excellent standards.

Really interesting Guided Tour by TUI - We went with TUI (booked before we went). We were collected from the hotel and driven to Knossos. We had the wonderful Veta leading the tour. She was informative and just made the trip for us. Being part of a guided tour we had war pieces to hear and an interactive iPad which showed what it would have looked like, this was great (& others who didn't have this were trying to catch a glimpse of the screen!). The time was great, there were some places to shade, although I would definitely recommend plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat.

Best insight into the history of the palace. - The history that was provided by the tour guide it was phenomenal. She made the history come to life by sharing in detail. What The pace I would have looked like in the time.. She also provided multiple images and sharing myths. I would only recommend visiting the palace with a tour guide.

Well organised and thoughtful day . - This was a very well organised trip. Our guide Sula and driver Giorgios were so thoughtful in driving is around the road blocks of strikers. Timings were spot on. Sula made Knossos come alive. Take 50 cents for the loo at Knossos A hat is essential

Great! - We had a lift in a car from our hotel to a mini bus that then joined a larger tour, the woman who drove us was lovely. When we joined the larger tour we met our tour guide who was very knowledgeable and helpful when my audio equipment wasn’t working. The queue to buy tickets wasn’t very long which was good. We had some free time in Heraklion then went round the museum, we thought the combined ticket was worth the €20. We then had the same journey back to our hotel. Overall a nice day out learning about the Minoans and seeing more of Heraklion.

Great tour but logistics were lacking. - The tour and tour guide were excellent and the bus was very comfortable. The downside was that we were not told until much later that we could not be picked up in Rethynon because the shuttles did not start until high season, so we had to drive to Heraklion to catch the shuttle. Luckily we had a rental car but it was still an inconvenience. PThe other complaint we had was that we had to wait in our van shuttle for the big bus for almost an hour.

Great trip shame about booking and admin - The Knossos tour and the walk around the city was fantastic as was our guide ( used earpiece to talk the guided tour so very good info -stick close to guide as Dip in signal occasionally) So why 3 rating well this was about the booking agent I booked a week before tour online and recieved confirmation of my payment and booking refund from Tripadvisor with a note to say local agent would contact me on pickup location and time! Nothing for three days so on day before I was due to fly to Crete contacted Tripadvisor and the gave ref no said would sort it Then travelled and still nothing so send direct to local co and copy to Tripadvisor still nothing fate three attempts eventually got details but they were for wrong trip and pick up time eventually got hotel to ring agent direct and sort out do advice check early and double check details Mike

Nearly 1.5 hours each way on cramped coach for hotel pickup/dropoff was excessive - Informative guide but nearly 1.5 hours each way on a cramped coach for the hotel pickup/drop off was excessive - and we weren’t the first hotel on the pickup list. For an archaeological tour we could have done with more time at Heraklion Archaeological Museum and have missed the unadvertised visit to the honey farm.
