This park is also home to bird species like the Nilgiri verditer flycatcher and Kerala laughing thrush. The Neelakurinji plant, which blooms once every twelve years, is endemic to this part of the Western Ghats.

A few hours later, you’ll arrive in Thekkady and check into your hotel or resort.

Thekkady, with its rich biodiversity and scenic charm, offers a veritable delight for visitors. Spend the afternoon touring Thekkady, including a visit to The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, a thick evergreen forest declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978. Enjoy a boat cruise on Periyar Lake, where you might spot wild animals coming to the shore for water. Keep an eye out for tigers!
