Each installation stands at least 10 meters tall, featuring a cantilever with a net suspended over the water and large stones as counterweights. Operated by a team of up to six fishermen, these nets are prevalent in coastal southern China and Indochina, but in India, they are primarily found in Kochi and Kollam, where they attract tourists. This unique fishing method was introduced by Chinese explorers in the 14th century and is rare in India.

Workers use braided coir fiber lines to hang clothes without pins. This cooperative laundry began during Dutch rule to clean military uniforms. The workers’ ancestors hail from Tamil Nadu, and the community is welcoming, often allowing visitors to try their hot iron press.
