Beautiful and Calm Scenery - Beautiful scenery in Kerala, India. The tour guides were able to talk about Indian’s history and culture along the way to the backwater pier. I really enjoyed the learning experience. We also saw the lives of people along the area and loved the cooking on the boat. Excellent trip to take while in Cochin.

Worth a try for a serene morning on the water - Friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to understand guides. Speakers on the bus in need of repair so it was a bit painful on the ears to hear their informative narration, which is why I docked 1 star. The houseboat experience was lovely. It’s about 2 hours each way to get there, so prepare for a long bus ride. Houseboat experience very serene. Not a thrilling or super fun shore excursion but it was an interesting experience and I’m glad we did it.

Mainly good, but spoilt somewhat by length of coach journeys - The coach journeys to and back from the embarkation point - they were too long, and the coach could not return because of a mechanical issue and a replacement had to be arranged, leading to anxiety that we might not get back to the cruise port on time

Great trip. Long journey but worth it - The lunch on the houseboat was fabulous. Such a lovely setting and freshly prepared Keralan food. The journey to the houseboats was approx 2 hours each way. Our visit to the fishing nets was short but interesting.

A different sort of cruise shore excursion - It was easy to find our guide at the port entrance. We were taken to the Chinese nets first because they only operate at high tide. Our guides explained the fishing nets and organised for those who were interested to have a go at raising the net. The trip to the houseboat pier takes between 1.5 and 2 hours. We had some explanation of the history of the area on the way there. There were 27 people on our tour and we were divided into two groups on two houseboats. There was plenty of room and seating. We were out on the backwaters for just under two hours. It was very interesting to see life along the backwaters. Lunch was served on board: rice, vegetables, a chicken curry and delicious fried whole fish. Plenty of food for all, but you eat with the plate on your lap, which worked OK. The trip back to port (again 1.5 to 2 hours) provided an opportunity for many to snooze. Those at the front could ask questions of the guides. It was a pity they didn't move around the bus. However, it was a highlight of my cruise and a different sort of shore excursion..

Okay - A great experience. But a lot of driving. Tea and coffee was supposed to be included with this package but was not served.

Worst tour ever - Worst tour.Old dilapidated van with no suspension and driver going too fast and hitting potholes and uneven roadways under construction for miles. We were constantly jerked about. We cancelled last stop as we couldn’t sit in the van any longer. We spent 4 hrs in the van and it was terrible. Viator should provide better tour operators.
