Highlights
  • BBD Bagh - Begin your tour at BBD Bagh, also known as Dalhousie Square, which is the heart of Kolkata’s colonial district. This area is surrounded by grand buildings such as the Writer’s Building, the General Post Office, and the iconic St. John’s Church. Stroll through the square, taking in the historic architecture and the stories of British India.

  • Malik Ghat Flower Market - You will visit the Mullik Ghat Flower Market, where you can experience the vibrant colors and fragrances of countless flowers. This is one of the largest flower markets in Asia and a photographer’s delight.

  • Howrah Bridge - Cross the iconic Howrah Bridge, an engineering marvel and one of the busiest cantilever bridges in the world.

Enjoy a ferry ride in Ganges.

  • Kumartuli - Next, head to Kumartuli, a traditional potters’ quarter famous for crafting clay idols, particularly for the Durga Puja festival. Walking through the narrow lanes of Kumartuli, you’ll see artisans at work, creating intricate and beautiful idols. It’s a fascinating glimpse into the artistry and craftsmanship of Kolkata.
  • College Street (Boi Para) - Walk towards College Street, known for its many bookstores and publishing houses. This area is often referred to as the “Boi Para” (Book Market) of Kolkata. Stop by the Indian Coffee House, a historic café that has been a gathering place for intellectuals, artists, and students for decades. Enjoy a cup of coffee and soak in the nostalgic ambiance.
  • Victoria Memorial Hall - Head south to the majestic Victoria Memorial, an iconic symbol of Kolkata built in memory of Queen Victoria. Surrounded by lush gardens, the marble structure houses a museum with an impressive collection of artifacts from the British era. Nearby, the sprawling Maidan, often called the “lungs of Kolkata,” offers a green respite in the bustling city.
  • The Mother House Of The Missionaries Of Charity - Considered as pilgrimage rather than a tourist place, the Mother House in Kolkata is a holy and very serene place that one can be at. The Mother House is the Head Quarter of the Missionaries of Charity that pulls thousands of visitors from all around the world.
Mother House was founded in 1950s with a single purpose of selfless service towards the underprivileged and poorest of the poor. The members of the congregation take vows of poverty, chastity and obedience along with a 4th additional but the most important of all the vows of giving “wholehearted selfless and free service to the poorest among the poor”.

City of Joy…came alive - Muzaffar was amazing! My brothers and I had a fantastic time exploring the city. We covered so many different spots: the architecture, the flower market, the ferry ride, the pottery, mother house and finally college street. Truely the City of Joy!

Absolutely Amazing! - Absolutely recommended! Muzaffar took me on a fun walk around Kolkata's historic quarter, including the remnants of the East India company. We also visited the flower market under the Howrah bridge and took a yellow cab to Kumartuli which was fascinating seeing Durga come to life in the hands of such experienced craftsmen.

Informative tour with kind guide - This was a really fun day. I learned so much about Kolkata in both its recent and older history. Of note, Muzaffar did a great job highlighting idiosyncratic elements of Indian life in the city that otherwise would have eluded me such as people hiring people to wait in line to exchange 2,000 rupee bills that were made defunct a few months ago. Would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to understand Kolkata in both present and past.

Amazing Tour! - My parents came to Kolkata in the end of February to attend my wedding. During that time, I arranged this city tour for them to see some of the most famous sites of Kolkata with a local. After the tour, my parents asked me to write this review in their name. They loved every moment of their Kolkata tour. Muzaffar is an amazing tour guide who makes sure that his clients have a great experience. He is friendly, reliable and very knowledgeable. He took my parents to so many places places and went above and beyond to ensure they had everything they needed. They highly recommend this tour to anyone who visits the city!

Fun and eye-opening power walk around Kolkata - Absolutely recommend. Muzaffar took us on a fun and enlightening walk around Kolkata's historic quarter, including the architectural remnants of the East India company. We also visited the flower market under the Howrah bridge and took a ferry to a village downriver with a long history of artisanal craftsmanship, and intriguing historic buildings of its own. A great introduction to the city

Fantastic Experience! - We had an excellent trip with Muzaffar. He is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, courteous and has excellent service skills. We saw parts of the city in great detail. He goes at the pace that you want, and we had a ferry ride, hand-rickshaw ride, tram ride and Kolkata yellow taxi ride, apart from all that is mentioned in the tour. The entire tour is unhurried, and that is the best part. I would certainly recommend Tour de Kolkata to all visitors and even locals.

Soak in some Joy! - Kolkata! what Joy it was to walk on its streets, basking in it’s past glory, hustling through its markets, soaking in the grandness and culture and not the least chitchatting with the people who never cease to be joyful. Thanks a ton to Muzaffar ji for the joyful experience. Would definitely recommend!

Fairly okay experience - The guide was quite cordial and ensured that I would get the best experience. That said, Trip Advisor should not take bookings on holidays. Most of the places were closed. The highlight, ferry ride, was also shut. Definitely not worth 2k.
