Montazah Gardens - Alexandria’s Montazah Gardens are beautifully maintained and feature two royal palaces built during the 19th and 20th centuries. Many tourists arriving in Alexandria, Egypt’s old capital, are unaware of the Royal Gardens of Montaza. Despite this, the extensive grounds are home to two historical palaces, both open to the public.
The Salamlek Palace, the older of the two Montazah palaces, was built in 1892 by the last ruler of the Mohammad Ali Dynasty. Interestingly, the palace was intended solely as a hunting lodge and never served as a royal residence. It has been renovated several times and has been used as a presidential residence.
Today, the Salamlek Palace has been transformed into a luxury hotel, increasingly popular among tourists and affluent Egyptians. The Montazah Palace and Royal Gardens cover approximately 150 acres, featuring beautifully maintained gardens.
