Cappadocia is a magical world of cones, pillar pinnacles and fairy chimneys
- all created by ancient volcanic eruptions, wind and water. You’ll make your way from Antalya to this enchanting land of storybook scenery for a unique day excursion. The highlights of your tour will include the subterranean ‘underground city’ of Kaymakli and the open-display Göreme ‘museum’.
Your exploration begins at Kaymakli, an underground metropolis featuring a complex network of multi-tiered dwellings etched by the earliest Christians. It consists of approximately 100 confined, constricted, and inclined tunnels that can be entered via the atriums of houses at street level. Subsequently, we head to Pigeon Valley while making our way to Pasabaglari.
Formerly the home to monks, Pasabaglari is a valley populated with a myriad of fairy chimneys that soar skyward, crafting an otherworldly scene extending all the way to Goreme. Here lies a valley filled with elaborate rock-hewn churches embellished with frescoes from the Byzantine period, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll also have the opportunity to witness the ‘Three Graces’ fairy chimneys before we escort you back to your lodging.
