• Tambunan Rafflesia Reserve - Pick up from the city hotel at 0800hrs. About 1½ hours drive journey through the scenic view within Crocker Range Park to Tambunan Rafflesia Centre which located conveniently by the roadside and is only 58km from Kota Kinabalu.

At the entrance of this reserve is a Rafflesia Information Centre. There are eight trails for trekkers including a Rafflesia Trail that leads to the flowering sites. For those who do not wish to go jungle trekking or see the original Rafflesia in full natural bloom, the center provides information and replicas of Rafflesia in their true shapes and colours.
In the afternoon, lunch at the local restaurant before transfer back to Kota Kinabalu.

Without a doubt, the Rafflesia Rainforest Reserve is the prime location to witness the largest flower on the planet. It’s situated within the confines of the Crocker Range, close to the Tambunan village, and roughly an hour’s drive from Kota Kinabalu.

The reserve stands as a sanctuary for the rafflesia, recognized as the world’s most significant bloom. It is home to approximately a dozen distinct species of this flower, which are typically exclusive to Sumatra and Borneo. Intriguingly, the rafflesia is parasitic and develops within stems of forest vines. Their blossoms can reach diameters of up to a meter. The Sabah reserve refuge is host to a variety of species indigenous to Sabah alone.
