Highlights
  • Toyosu Market - Toyosu Market (
) opened on October 11, 2018 on the man-made island of Toyosu in the Bay of Tokyo. It took over the wholesale business from the aging Tsukiji Market and provides tourists with an opportunity to observe the market action and to dine at restaurants across its large, modern premises.

The huge wholesale market consists of three main buildings: two buildings for seafood and one for fruits and vegetables. All buildings are connected with each other and Shijo-mae Station via walkways, and tourists can enter them along dedicated routes and view the action from observation windows that look onto the auction and wholesale halls for tuna, other seafood and produce.

This tour does not include tuna auction viewing.

Knowledgeable, professional and kind. Will recommend to others - Katsu-San was very nice. His English was also very good. Met us at the hotel which made it easier. He first took us to the Toyosu market and then the Tsukiji outter market. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Will recommend this tour to others.

Learn Japanese culture and enjoy food scene! - Our family went on this tour with Mr. Shuji. We had excellent time with Mr. Shuji explaining everything in detail, customizing it to our family (teenage boys). Mr. Shuji was very responsive, detail oriented, and very flexible. We visited Meji Shrine, Tsujiki market and Sensoji temple. I highly recommend this tour, and our thanks to Mr. Shuji for making it a very memorable tour for our family!

Fish & Origami - Prior to the date of the tour my guide, Naoko, made contact with me to confirm the meeting point and the start time, which was really helpful. Naoko san met me at my hotel on time and we agreed to itinerary of the day. We went to Tsukiji Market by public transport first where the history of the market was explained. All the different fruits, vegetables and seafood was explored along with the various market stalls. I watched huge sides of tuna being cut expertly! The market has lots to explore. We then took the bus to Toyusu, which is the site of the tuna auctions. This is a custom made building which has a viewing gallery and some video footage for visitors to explain the business of Toyosu. There was frozen tuna still on the auction area and Naoko explained how the quality of the tuna is graded and what dishes the different parts are used for. As I expressed an interest in visiting the newly opened Edo style shopping centre beside Toyosu we went there. It has a lot of restaurants and food places. On the 8th floor there is a pool where people can relax and soak their tired feet for free while enjoying a great view of Odaiba and the Rainbow Bridge. We then went on to Origami Kaikan in Yashima on the metro where we were treated to a demonstration of paper wasing/dyeing and the owner happily demonstrating origami to us. He made it look so easy. My guide Naoko then kindly escorted me back to the hotel. She was a wealth of information and was a good guide in what was a gull morning of discovery. Well worth booking, especially when two things I highlighted were incorporated easily and welcomed. Thank you.

Wonderful tour with Motoko - Our family really enjoyed our tour of the fish markets with Motoko. Her communication was great leading up to the tour arranging our transport details and she met my in-laws at their hotel seamlessly. The tour took us to many parts of both Toyosu and Tsukiji fish markets we may not have otherwise seen for ourselves. So glad we took the tour and thank you Motoko!

Best Guide on 3 week trip - Wow - what a fantastic tour - made even more so by our kind, funny and informative guide Goreilo. We went on many tours 3x the cost on our 3 week trip and this stood out as the best value by far. Even though we didn’t start early enough to see the auction (our choice), visiting Toyusa was worth it a Goreilo as he explained how everything worked and it made our subsequent trip to Tsukiji all the more meaningful. At Tsukiji we tried Wagyu on a stick and were then taken to a fabulous sushi restaurant at the market. It was a delightful half day and Goreilo kept two parents and our three teenage boys entertained the whole time. I highly highly recommend Goreilo for this tour and any other tour you can get him on!

Excellent tour of the Tokyo Fish Markets - Goreilo was an excellent guide. Our tour took us through the market after the auctions were over and yet we were still fascinated due to his excellent presentations of how the market and Japanese fishing industry works. We then would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tokyo!

The Best Way to see the Market - Our guide Kay did such a nice job explaining the Tsukiji market, while allowing us the freedom to experience the parts that of most interest to us. There’s alot more than meets the eye at this market and it’s helpful to have a guide make the experience informative and nice. If you go to the market, there is a third floor food court and seating area that we would have never found without Kay. It’s the perfect place to eat everything you buy!! Japan Guide Agency was a nice way to customize personal tours.
