- Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau - Visit KL Auschwitz 1. Walk through the iron gate bearing the notorious slogan Arbeit Macht Frei, which means Work Sets You Free. See 22 brick barracks, which were prison for hundreds of thousands of victims of the Holocaust. The most chilling is block number 11, the so-called prison within the prison. Block 11 contained special torture chambers including dark chambers or standing cells where various punishments were inflicted on prisoners. The first attempts to kill people with Zyklon B took place in this block. The only preserved crematorium and gas chamber is located at the end of the camp. After the visit to KL Auschwitz 1, travel in the minivan to KL Auschwitz 2 Birkenau. This part of the camp is 25 times larger than Auschwitz 1 and it was the largest of the death camps. Over 1,100,000 people were murdered here. Between 62 wooden barrack are the ruins of 4 crematoriums and gas chambers, which were destroyed by the Nazis in an effort to hide the evidence of their crimes.

Very good team - We had a tour in Ausschwitz today with Royal tours
We were at a Wrong Meeting and the staff took very good care of us by phone so we could find the right place
The leadership ran without problems

Wow. - Wow, from start to finish. After a computer glitch let me book the tour and pay the company reached out and apologized and asked to switch the day, which unfortunately due to scheduling would not work. They figured out a way to make it work and I'm so thankful they did. Very communicative through the whole process. The tour of Auschwitz itself was extremely moving. Tour was well organized, transportation was great, group was perfect size.

Sad place but interesting. Would recommend a visit here - So much to see. Definately will leave an impact on you. Lots Of walking involved, wear flat shoes as uneven ground.

Good, glad I visited, but maybe more detail needed to stop this happening again ? - I so wish that I had written a list of questions to ask as I feel that this tour was sugar-coated. I cannot blame the tour guide as they are taught how to conduct the tour and the tours for each country are formatted differently, so there is not just the language difference. I only found this out as I had someone translate in Polish for me.
There is a lot to see in your time there but there is a lot of things that you do not see like all of the false teeth, children's toys, and many other things that may spring to mind.
The dogs were mentioned and that they killed some people, but no details like babies were thrown to them, their teeth brushed with a poison, prisoners told to run and then the dogs were sent off after them and their wounds examined after, and sometimes just used to kill.
Also the experiments done, injecting chloroform directly into the heart of twins to see which would die first and see how long the second would live for. Many many more procedures were carried out and no mention of anesthetic being used.
Yes, some of it was horrifying, but the world should never forget the level of suffering that was caused to the people that died and the ones that survived and suffered afterwards.

Let down by Logistics - The tour of the Auschwitz and Birkenau camps was something that will live with me forever. Our guide was excellent and was able to give a real feeling of the Camps; harrowing, but something we must not forget.
So why the 3 Star review if the tour was so good? The logistics were at best adequate. It took us two and a half hours to get to Auschwitz, with the first hour spent driving around Krakow. The driver did not go on the main motorway (to avoid the toll perhaps?), which added to the journey time. The travelling experience should be avoided for anyone who suffers from travel sickness. Coming home was no better, as we had to wait an hour for the German party to finish their tour.
Certainly a trip that everyone should do, but perhaps not through Royal Tours.

Changed the tour time last minute - Very knowledgeable tour guide. We really liked her, and unlike some other tours, you get headphones and she speaks into a microphone so you could hear everything. Unfortunately, the tour company reserve the right to change the time of the tour, which they did with us. It started 2 hours later than we had originally booked for, and we had something work-related later in the day that couldn’t be rescheduled, so we had to leave the tour early, missing all of the Birkenau part.

I would advise finding another tour company if possible - I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit Auschwitz in June 2024 and used Royal Tours. I've been studying WW2 and the Holocaust since I was a boy, so this was a dream come true.
Sadly, that dream was somewhat hampered by the tour experience. The logistics, while a bit clunky, were adequate, and I felt the schedule was made clear. The bus that transported us was clean and all went well during transportation.
Why I've given my experience such a low rating is on account of the actual tour guide. She spoke very quietly and often times very fast, so it was difficult to hear her, even with the headphones transmitter turned to full volume.
The entire tour felt very, very rushed. The guide walked very quickly, seemingly with little to regard as to how many people from the group could see or hear her. There was very little time to stop and view the things at the site that are literally there to be viewed and taken in. If you were not in the very front of the group, by the time you got to see an item/"exhibit"/picture/building/etc., the guide was already well onto things after it.
After Auschwitz 1, a couple of the people in our group with canes dropped because they missed so much of the tour just trying to keep up.
At Birkenau, she made very clearly she was going to walk very fast and that if you weren't able to keep up and wanted to drop off to let her know. She wasn't necessarily mean or cruel in how she said this, but it was incredibly insensitive to anyone with mobility issues, or who may just want take a bit more time.
Birkenau is incredibly expansive- there is A LOT of walking. So, if you can't keep up with her pace, you will miss everything she has to say because she does not wait for the group to catch up (again, virtually no regard for where anyone in the group is).
I will share that I am an amputee (left leg) and while I'm highly mobile, I struggled a great deal to keep up with her. The terrain is uneven and difficult to walk on, especially at the speed expected.
All in all, I am disappointed. There were things I have been waiting my whole life to see with my own eyes that I had mere seconds to take in. And I learned very little because I was only able to hear 5% - 10% of what the guide said.
I will likely never have the opportunity to return to Auschwitz, but if I do, I will spend a bit extra to go with another tour company, such as a private tour.

Expedited visit - The Polish guide did not speak, and the French speaking guide simply listed very general and basic facts without going into detail, read the signs when possible and really gave us the minimum of information. No emotion, no details. We had two people in wheelchairs with us, she did not wait for them to arrive or for them to be with the rest of the group to begin the explanations or to move forward. No opportunity to ask questions or slow down, there are even parts of the camp that we haven't seen..

Beware of fraud! - Attention! Don't book a tour at Royal Tours. The company changes the visiting hours at short notice and after the cancellation period has expired on Viator. Unfortunately, our visit to the historical monument was cancelled as a result, because this is 1.) too short-term and the journey is not possible 2.) you search for the company on Google Maps quickly find out that there is a system behind it and 3.) none of the statements made on Viator coincide with that of the company. Simply put, it's fraud.
