To clarify, Auschwitz consists of three concentration camps in total. The first was constructed with the aim of incarcerating political prisoners, though its purpose evolved over time, as your personal guide will elaborate. This complex houses the infamous “hunger cells”, where hundreds of prisoners perished due to malnutrition.
After covering a small distance, we’ll get to Auschwitz II- Birkenau, the second compound, which remains the location of the crematoriums and the gas chamber. This compound was brought into existence with the objective of being “the final solution to the Jewish problem”, and it indeed turned into a death factory.
Auschwitz III- Monowitz, the third camp, is practically non-existent now, but served as a forced labor prison.
Upon concluding the tour, your private driver will transport you back to Krakow.
