Additional Information

Many of Krakow’s most famous communist artefacts are alive and well. Hop in your Trabant (or our iconic Polish Fiat or crazy Soviet Lada) with your guide and travel back in time as you cruise through the city in a car manufactured by the Eastern Bloc. Head to the Nowa Huta district, famously known as the city’s communist enclave. Learn the history behind the neighbourhood that was Stalin’s ‘gift’ to Krakow. Wander the labyrinth of tenements, designed to be a model communist city. Hear the stories of life behind the Iron Curtain as you explore the epicentre of Poland’s resistance movement. This revolution led to the eventual overthrow of the communist government.

The ‘Communism Tour’ was featured in BBC’s ‘Palin’s New Europe’ series and covered by many international TVs and newspapers.

A step back into a different age - A really fascinating tour around the Nowa Huta area with Cornelia. Her stories and personal knowledge brought to life times gone by, with visits to shops and cafes making it like stepping back in time. The Trabbie made the whole thing a lot of fun. Thanks Cornelia. Highly recommended

A tour that works like a TIME MACHINE! - What a experience!!! I chose the 3.5 Deluxe tour to Nowa Huta, and I could not be happier I took this decision, and it absolutely worth the money. First off, my very polite and sweet guide pick me up in a original and very well kept DDR Trabant, she would drive me to Nowa Huta, the place is beyond beautiful, outstanding architecture, green areas where everything you breath is history about this place that's an colosal part of what is Poland today, with a very patient attitude and detailed attention she would explain the history behind this place using maps, pictures, and experiences told first hand by residents that lived through those hard times, then they will drive you to the Civil Defense bunkers, the smell, the dim lights, the colder temperature once you are walking downstairs it's an incredible experience, it really works like a TIME MACHINE! dont ever miss it, last not for least, we go to eat "pierogis" a typical Polish dish, I highly recommend to order "pierogis" filled with spinachs! delicious and affordable meal that will switch on your Polish side! Greateful to Crazy Guides for this experience.

Wonderful experience a blast was had. - Fantastic experience. Great tour really enjoyed it. I booked this tour and a lovely bubbly young lady picked us up from the Radission hotel. The adventure began. I am very interested in the communist era and this was amazing. We had coffee in a coffee house went to the shops well preserved. The car oh wow was so cool. My parter had vodka as I don’t drink alcohol and that was cool. I highly recommend this tour to anyone thinking of doing it. I wanted to experience Banksy so the lovely lady kindly dropped us off at the museum. Very informative interesting and fun morning in Krakow. Was very happy we got to do something a little different. Thanks for amazing day. 5 stars from Ireland. Just loved Krakow until Our next visit.

Entertainment and history - This was one of the funnest tours we have ever been on! The guide was a character who hilariously entertained us throughout the entire tour. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much! I didn’t think I’d enjoy the vintage car without modern comfort, but it was very comfortable and just added another element to the experience. We learned a lot about the communist era in Poland and the bunker was one of the coolest places I’ve been.

A very underrated experience! - We've had a really good time with our guide (Michal). She was very knowledgeable and she was clearly passionnate with the content of the tour. We also loved eating at the milk bar and getting a real polish experience (non touristy).

Very disappointed. Very overpriced - Disappointed with this trip. Overpriced for a short tour. It was informative but nothing special. Can easily be done on your own. The tour guide was lovely but we felt rushed. Not at all impressed. It’s not fun or crazy just information and a spin in an old soviet car.
