- Dom Malarek - Zalipie- colourful village, is famous for the decoration of its houses, with cheerful paintings on the walls and stoves, and crepe-paper flowers, paper-cut designs and hay spiders. This tradition has existed in the Powiśle Dąbrowskie region since the end of the 19th century. Flowers were also painted on external walls of peasant cottages and farm buildings, on fences, wells and even kennels. In Zalipie, there are now around 20 painted houses. The best known example of this original folk artwork is the homestead of Felicia Curyłowa (currently a branch of the District Museum of Tarnów), a Zalipie painter whose painting was already known in the period between the wars.
During our tour, you will get to see a number of decorated houses, a museum, and a small shop with unique hand made souvenirs.

Zalipie, a quaint old settlement located in the South-Eastern region of Poland, ranks as one of the must-visit locales in the country. Its allure doesn’t lie in high-end accommodations or sprawling glass structures but instead in its captivating tiny timber houses adorned with brilliantly vivid hues.
Nestled away, Zalipie nurtures a delightful custom. Roughly a hundred years ago, the local women embarked on a project to color their homes. Notably, this wasn’t the standard, unvarying shade you’d anticipate in a conventionally conservative society.

Unique and beautiful cultural experience - Want to experience something totally unique and feel the culture of tradition combined with lovely countryside? This is the tour for you. Our guide Mathew (Maciej Szymoniak) was exceptional. We had the pleasure of traveling on the Eagle Nest Castle tour earlier in the week and were thrilled to be with him again. We met people, saw the insides of their homes and experienced a very heartwarming and beautiful tradition. Everywhere we went we were warmly welcomed. It is clear Poland Active has invested in getting to know the people and their families. We were so glad we booked this tour. It is something even as well traveled individuals that we have never experienced before. Very special and beautiful.

Great Day Out - Highly recommended. Driver very friendly and knowledgeable, willing to customise tour to groups needs.
He had a good repour with the locals. We saw the outside of several homes and a few inside.
Altogether a thoroughly enjoyable day.

Wonderful tour, one of a kind experience - Our day in Zalipie was the highlight of our long weekend in Krakow. My 26-year old daughter and I took dozens of photos of the many houses we were able to see. The interiors were extra special, as was the opportunity to meet one of the artists. Mathew was knowledgeable and a terrific guide; he knew exactly which houses to visit and where we could get up close. So glad we decided to take the tour, we would have not met the artist or seen so much on our own.

Great Village to visit with a great tour company - This was a great opportunity to see some of the Polish country-side in addition to visiting the beautiful village of Zalipie. My guides were great - very knowledgeable and interested in making sure that I got the most out of my trip. We stopped for lunch in great place for traditional Polish food.
