Totally recommend the trip! - We had a wonderful, sunny day - the previous day it was closed due to snow/ice. The directions and all signs were easy to follow... we started with the train ride to the cogwheel train. The views from the top were amazing! There was a fun tobaggan run (Frakigaudi) between the gondola and the cable cars. It was quite a lot of fun.

Must do for the views - This was an amazing trip . It’s really a ‘wow ‘spectacular trip . It was a great day spent . We started on the bus to Kriens where we had to walk for about 10 minutes where we found the Gondola , what a breathtaking views going up the mountain, it probably took about 15 minutes .The carriage holds 4 people but we went on our own . Once you got near the top you got out and had a bit of a look around and to take some more pictures. Then we hopped in a large gondola that held maybe 20 people that runs every 15 minutes that took us nearly to the top . Once out you climbed up quite a few stairs to the very top of Mount Pilatus for some breathtaking photos and incredible views . It a bit tough going up the stairs as you do get quite out of breath due to the altitude. Make sure you have a bit of a wander round as there are a few tracks and the dragon path you can go on .There is a cafe and souvenir shop if you want to eat and drink . Then you can go down the cogwheel train to the bottom , which again had spectacular view where we caught a boat back to Lucerne . This was a day well spent and would recommend anyone coming to Lucerne to do this tour. We did not have a guide . We arrived at 9.15 and got home about 2pm .

Great trip, start by taking the boat, spend $5 for a reserved cogwheel seat if crowded. - Highly recommend the round trip starting with the boat to the cogwheel train and not the other way around from Kieren. Buy your ticket on line or at the ticket counter at pier one. They only accept MC on line and MC denied all my on line transactions. The ticket counter worked fine if not crowded. Buy a reserved seat on the cogwheel train if it is crowded. The trains runs on the half hour so you will have a long wait if crowded and you have not reserved a seat. Take the cable cars down to Kieren and then the bus, which is included, back to Lucern. The bus is about a ten minute walk from the cable car. Turn right out of the cable car station and follow signs carefully or ask for directions to the number 1 bus.

Easy beautiful excursion - This was an easy to follow but yet independent way to see Mt Pilatus. I would suggest that you do the cog train first to avoid the crowds and go down by the cable car.

Beautiful views! - The views from the top were breathtaking. The gondola and cogwheel were a little scary but fun. But we are also a afraid of heights!

Lovely experience - The whole round trip was excellent. Started at 9.30 am and returned back to the hotel in Old Town by about 2 pm. I read reviews before going, that said it was difficult to find the bus back at the end, but I had no issues with using google on my phone to guide. It was a bit disappointing that there was heavy fog at the top on the day, and therefore almost zero visibility (weather is beyond anyone's control) however, I found every step of the experience enjoyable - from the cruise on the lake, the cog train, and the gondola ride down. Beautiful views while ascending and descending, but not at the top.

Awesome views, really worth it - The views were amazing. Really worth it. The reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars: The cogwheel train was actually canceled for the day due to icy conditions. We found out when we arrived. It would be good to advise where to check for this. We returned to Lucerne (we were given free ticket) and used gondola both ways. It was unclear whether the ticket would work for gondola both ways but fortunately it did. It would be good to make this clear with the purchase. I would have given this 5 stars if there were instructions to check on the possible cancellation before starting the trip and to clearly advise options.

Wonderful experience! - Great value. Got us to and up the mountain as well as back to our hotel. Enjoyed all the different modes of transportation. If you haven’t already done the boat tour of Lake Lucerne, I would recommend including this on your tour. We had done that the day before or tour, so enjoyed the train ride back to the city. The views were amazing on the way up and down. It was very cloudy the day we went, so the views from the end of the gondola ride weren’t as good as a sunny day would have been, but still beautiful. We didn’t walk all the way to the top because it was so cloudy. Well worth the trip up, and had no problem “guiding” ourselves.
