• Bamboo Train Battambang - Battambang Bamboo Train, also known as norry or nori (derived from the French word for lorry), is an innovative rail vehicle from Cambodia. Lonely Planet refers to it as “Cambodia’s bamboo train”. Initially created as a logistical solution during the United Nations Transitional Authority of Cambodia period, the original “bamboo train” was a lorry system that ran on Cambodia’s infrequently used northern rail line.
• Mrs. Bun Roeung’s Ancient House - Mrs. Bun Roeung’s Ancient House is one of the 20 heritage Khmer houses in Vat Kor village, approximately 100 years old and constructed entirely from hardwood. This traditional house features a spacious veranda, vintage furniture and lighting, and personal items belonging to the owners. Although the house is currently occupied, tours are available, and inquiries can be made about the guest house on the premises for those seeking accommodation. The owners have preserved several vintage décor items and traditional tools and equipment that operate on simple mechanisms. The old construction includes a raised floor accessible by a staircase and is surrounded by a small orchard with fruit plants. The place transports you to a simpler time. If you appreciate rustic places with a lot of character, a visit here will be enchanting!
• Wat Banan Temple - Featuring architecture from the mid-11th century to the late 12th century, the temple was initially built by King Ut Tak Yea Tit Tya Varman II (1050-1066) and later completed by King Jarvarman VII (1181-1219). The temple is situated atop a mountain approximately 400 meters high in Kon Tey 2 commune, Ba Nan District, 25 kilometers from the provincial town along Provincial Road No. 155, which runs parallel to the Sang Ke River. At the mountain’s base, there are Ku Teuk and two main natural wells, Bit Meas and Chhung or Chhung Achey.
• Wat Ek Phnom - Wat Ek Phnom is an Angkorian temple located on the left side of the Sangkae River at the small creek of Prek Daun Taev, northwest of the G Peam Aek spot, about 9 km north of Battambang city in northwestern Cambodia. It is a Hindu temple built in the 11th century under the reign of King Suryavarman.
• Battambang Bat Caves - The killing caves of Phnom Sampeau are a Khmer Rouge execution site on Phnom Sampeau, a hill 7 miles southwest of Battambang in western Cambodia. The Khmer Rouge executed their victims at the top of the cave near a daylight shaft or ceiling hole, then disposed of the bodies by throwing them into the cave.
• Battambang Bat Caves - Just down the road from the Killing Caves of Phnom Sampeau, visitors gather at dusk to witness an extraordinary natural spectacle: the nightly departure of a massive colony of hungry wrinkle-lipped free-tailed bats.
