After a briefing, you will be guided through Battambang’s French colonial architecture, including the Ta Dambong Kra Aoung monument, a symbol of the city. The tour will then proceed to the next destination, the original bamboo train.
- Suspension Bridge - Before boarding the bamboo train, the journey will take you through charming villages and countryside, showcasing fruit farms and local pagodas along the riverbank. The friendly farmers and cheerful children will greet you with smiles and waves. A stop in the village will provide insights into the local lifestyle. The tour will then visit a suspension bridge near Kampong Pil Pagoda, offering stunning river views for photography. The journey continues to the Bamboo Train.
- Bamboo Train Battambang - Experience a ride on the original bamboo train at Osrolao village, possibly the last opportunity as the government plans to close it soon. The ride costs $5 per person and offers scenic views of small villages and countryside.
- Phnom Sampeau - Known as Phnom Sampov, this mountain features the “killing cave” and “bat cave.” Here, you can view the cave where victims were executed during the Pol Pot regime. After exploring the cave, climb the mountain to enjoy a breathtaking view and a Buddhist pagoda.
Note: There are many monkeys in the area, so maintain a safe distance as some can be aggressive. To ascend the mountain, you can choose to walk or opt for a motorcycle or pick-up truck.
- Battambang Bat Caves - In this cave, you’ll witness numerous bats flying around. The cave resembles a long dragon, with millions of bats taking 30 to 40 minutes to exit.
This marks the final stop of the tour. After visiting the bat cave, the operator will drive you back to your hotel.
