Banteay Srei and Grand Circuit Temple

Pre Rup - Begin the two-day exploration with a visit to the captivating temples located outside Angkor Thom city. Depart from the hotel and make the first stop at Pre Rup, a Hindu temple constructed as the state temple for Khmer King Rajendravarman, dedicated in 961 or early 962. This temple mountain features a combination of brick, laterite, and sandstone architecture.

Banteay Srei - Continue the journey to the intricately carved and well-preserved Banteay Srei. The detailed reliefs on this smaller sandstone structure are considered the finest and most skillfully crafted in Cambodia. Banteay Srei has been accessible since the late 1990s, following the departure of the Khmer Rouge from the area.

Preah Khan - In the afternoon, proceed to Preah Khan temple, a fascinating blend of tree roots and crumbling stone structures. Commissioned by the renowned ‘temple builder’ Jayavarman VII in honor of his father, this site offers an intriguing contrast to the grand Angkor Wat. Preah Khan is currently undergoing restoration by the World Monument Fund and is in remarkably good condition in some areas.

Neak Pean - Visit Neak Pean temples, an artificial island featuring a Buddhist temple on a circular island in Jayatataka Baray.

Temples of Angkor with Sunrise

Angkor Wat - Start with a pre-dawn departure from the hotel to witness the sunrise outside Angkor Wat. Enter the magnificent temple in darkness (please bring a torch) from the less-visited eastern side, and explore the ancient cloistered corridors past the world’s longest stretch of bas-relief carvings.

Srah Srang - Conclude the tour at Angkor with breakfast at a local Khmer restaurant (either take away from the hotel or order there).

Ta Prohm - After a rest break, venture to the jungle-enveloped Ta Prohm – one of the most atmospheric temples in Angkor. Once home to 2,740 monks, Ta Prohm remains much as it was in the early 1850s when French explorer Henri Mouhot ‘rediscovered’ this enchanting site.

Terrace of the Elephants - Pass by the renowned Terrace of the Leper King and the Terrace of Elephants.

Bayon Temple - At the Bayon (12th century), admire its beautifully crafted central towers adorned with over 200 enormous faces.
