There is a wealth of history to explore within this temple. Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours.
- Bayon Temple - Known as the Bayon Temple, it is a richly adorned Khmer temple associated with Buddhism in Cambodia. Built in the late 12th to early 13th century as the state temple of King Jayavarman VII, the Bayon is located at the center of Jayavarman’s capital, Angkor Thom. Visitors will encounter the smiling four faces of Buddha on each tower, facing every direction. There is much more to discover in this temple area. Recommended visit duration: 2 hours.
- Ta Keo - Ta Keo is one of the tallest monuments in Angkor, a mountain temple constructed by Jayavarman V in the 10th century, situated just east of Angkor Thom city. This Hindu temple was dedicated to Lord Shiva. However, it remains unfinished due to being struck by lightning, which was considered a bad omen by the king. From the top, visitors can enjoy views of the surrounding nature and trees. Recommended visit duration: 1 hour.
- Ta Nei Temple - Built by Jayavarman VII (r. 1181–1219), Ta Nei Temple exudes a spirit similar to Ta Prohm, albeit on a smaller scale, with moss and tentacle-like roots covering many outer areas. The fewer visitors contribute to its atmospheric charm.
- Ta Prohm Temple - Known as the “Tomb Raider Temple” due to its appearance in the 2001 Hollywood film “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,” Ta Prohm was built in 1186 AD by King Jayavarman VII and dedicated to his mother. The temple is famously enveloped by tree roots. Recommended visit duration: 1 hour 30 minutes.
- Banteay Kdei - Also known as the “Citadel of Monks’ Cells,” Banteay Kdei is a Buddhist temple in Angkor, Cambodia, located southeast of Ta Prohm and east of Angkor Thom. Constructed as a Buddhist university in the late 12th century, it features smiling four faces at its eastern gates. Recommended visit duration: 1 hour.
- Siem Reap - Conclude the tour and return to the starting point. Duration: 30 minutes. Admission is free.
