Explore the vast temple of Banteay Chhmar, which, along with its satellite shrines and reservoir (Baray), stands as one of the most significant yet least understood archaeological sites from the Angkor period of the Khmer Empire. This complex dates back to the reign of Jayavarman VII in the late 12th or early 13th century. One of the temple’s shrines once housed an image of Srindrakumara Rajaputra (the crown prince), likely a son of Jayavarman VII. A lengthy old Khmer inscription was discovered at the site in Banteay Mean Chey Province, approximately 265KM from Siem Reap.
