Neak Pean - Neak Pean means the entwined serpents. Neak Pean was designed for medical purposes, as the ancient Khmer believed that bathing in its pools would help balance the elements within the body, thereby curing various ailments. This hospital is one of many constructed by King Jayavarman VII, who was known for his dedication to public health and welfare.
The design of Neak Pean is rooted in ancient Hindu beliefs regarding balance and harmony. It features four interconnected pools, each representing one of the four essential elements: Water, Earth, Fire, and Wind. These pools are linked to a central water source, the main tank, through stone conduits. Each conduit is symbolically overseen by one of the Four Great Animals (maha ajaneya pasu), which are the Elephant, Bull, Horse, and Lion, corresponding to the cardinal directions of north, east, south, and west. This intricate design not only served a practical purpose but also embodied the spiritual and philosophical ideals of the time.

Full-Day Explore Phnom Kulen with Beng Mealea Temple
Phnom Kulen National Park - Today, we will go to pick up your group from your hotel lobby at 8.00am, to visit Phnom Kulen Mountain.
Phnom Kulen is a sacred mountain in Cambodia, there are lots of things to do in here, including the holy waterfalls, the reclining Buddha, a sacred river with thousand Lingas, Srash Damrei and Bat Cave. Phnom Kulen means “The Lychee Mountain”, it’s a Cambodian National Park and Historical Archeological sites. Phnom Kulen has a major symbolic importance for Cambodia as the birthplace of the ancient Khmer Empire. King Jayavarman II has proclaimed himself as The God King and initiated The Devaraja Cult. This is a sacred mountain for King Jayavarman II to proclaim his independence as well. During the Angkorean Era the relief was known as Mahendraparvata, meaning “The Mountain of Great Indra”. Highly recommended!
Beng Mealea - After Phnom Kulen Tour, next we will continue to visit Prasat Beng Mealea. Beng Mealea is the most popular remote jungle temple in Cambodia, it’s located in the north east of Siem Reap city about 66 Km by road. Beng Mealea is the incredible ruins that still living harmony in the nature of its original ruined condition. It’s untouched by the restoration and conservation project. It opened to visitors in the early 2000 after the land mine was cleared. Beng Mealea was built by King Suriyavarman II and then completed by King Dharanindravarman II. The sarcophagus looking urn: “Indiana Jones” kingdom of the environment with piles of falling stones and dark galleries. Enjoyable, provided you exercise caution during your visit!
Siem Reap - After the Beng Mealea temple tour, we will transfer you back to your hotel in Siem Reap city. Enjoy your rest & Relax! Siem Reap was little more than a village when French explorers such as Henri Mouhot rediscovered Angkor in the 19th century. However, European travelers had visited the ruins much earlier, including António da Madalena in 1586. Preah Vihear with Koh Ker Temples
Preah Vihear Temple - Today you will depart early from your hotel, we are picking up your group from your hotel at 5.30am please ask your hotel for the breakfast boxes. We will stop at Anlong Veng small town for our breakfast and refreshment. Anlong Veng small town was the last stronghold capital city of Khmer Rouge Army before 1998 Mr Pol Pot died in this area. There is a popular historical site for your visit as well. It is Ta Mok’s House. His houses are now impressive for tourists. Then we will continue our journey to visit The incredible Hindu temple of Preah Vihear. It’s on top of the DangRek Mountain Range, very close to the Thailand border. You can see the Thai army from the Cambodia site, you will take about a two hours tour here. Before going up to the temple center, you will need to buy your temple ticket. And we will need to rent a pickup truck, this is my account, to go up to visit Cambodia Preah Vihear temple.
Koh Ker Temple - After the tour of the Preah Vihear temple, we will embark on a journey to explore the Koh Ker group of temples. Along the way, we will pause for a one-hour lunch break at a local restaurant near the park, where you can enjoy some refreshing dishes.
Once we arrive at Koh Ker, the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire under King Jayavarman IV, who ruled from 921 to 944, you will have the opportunity to delve into the rich history of this remarkable site. King Jayavarman IV relocated his court from Angkor to Koh Ker, bringing along members of the royal family and a significant population. During your visit, you will discover the many Hindu temples he constructed in this area.
Our tour will focus on the major sanctuaries, allowing you to explore the most significant sites within a few hours. Koh Ker is home to over one hundred temples, each with its own unique history and architectural features. After our exploration, we will return you to your hotel in Siem Reap city.

We’ll learn about Cambodian lives during the Khmer Rouge time. During 1975-1979, Pol Pot Genocide Government has killed about 3 millions of Cambodian people and including some of foreigners. There are about 386 killing field sites throughout Cambodia. Wat Thmei killing field was a government primary school, but Pol Pot turned into a prison for interrogation torture and punishment, when the confessions were received and documented, those prisoners were be killed in afterwords. This killing field is popular for the tourists who wish to know more about the Genocide regime.
Angkor National Museum - Then, we’ll continue to visit the Angkor National Museum. There are many ancient artifacts displayed in the museum. Nowadays you are not able to see more original artifacts inside the original temple. Most of them are safely displayed at the Angkor Conservation Center, Phnom Penh National Museum and Some are living safely inside the Angkor National Museum in Siem Reap City. For ancient history culture architecture lovers, they never miss a chance to visit and explore Angkor national museum to experience many wonderful original artifacts from the Khmer Empire and some before that and some after!
