- Kompong Phluk - Explore Kampong Phluk – The Captivating Floating Village of Cambodia. Kampong Phluk is a fascinating collection of three villages built on high stilts within the floodplain of Tonle Sap Lake, located just 16 km southeast of Siem Reap, Cambodia. This hidden treasure provides insight into the distinctive lifestyle of over 3,000 residents, who adapt to the lake’s significant seasonal variations. A Village That Evolves with the Seasons: Dry Season (Nov–May): As the water recedes, the towering 6–8 meter stilt houses stand prominently, exposing the wooden poles beneath. Many villagers relocate onto the lake, establishing floating homes until the rains return. Wet Season (Jun–Oct): As the Tonle Sap Lake expands, the water level rises, transforming the village into a genuine floating community. The flooded mangrove forests surrounding the village become a haven for wildlife, including crab-eating macaques and various fish and birds.
- Tonle Sap Lake - Venturing out on the Tonle Sap itself is a profoundly soothing experience, with the tranquil waters stretching to the horizon. The day concludes with a drink (and dinner, if desired) at a traditional floating restaurant to watch the sunset over the lake.
- Siem Reap - Return to the hotel for relaxation, but if the ticket is still valid, there will be a stop to visit some main temples in the Roluos Group. Among the “Roluos Group” of temples are some of the earliest permanent structures built by the Khmer. They signify the beginning of the classical period of Khmer civilization, dating from the late 9th century. Some were entirely constructed with bricks, others partially with laterite or sandstone. Currently, it comprises three major temples: Bakong, Lolei, and Preah Ko, along with the small Prasat Prei Monti. At both Bakong and Lolei, there are contemporary Theravada Buddhist monasteries. The Roluos Temples Temple Pass is included with the Angkor Pass.
