Phare is more than a conventional acrobatic circus. Performers use theater, live music, dance and modern circus arts to tell uniquely Cambodian stories; historical, folk and modern. The artists create the stories themselves based on the real-life experiences of themselves and their families.

Phare Circus transcends traditional acrobatics, with the performers innovatively weaving stories drawn from their personal experiences. These narratives encompass contemporary society, folklore, and recent history. Incorporating dance, drama, live music, and circus arts, they share a snippet of their lives with spectators.

The artists come from incredibly challenging social and economic circumstances. At the non-profit school, Phare Ponleu Selpak, they cultivate and hone their talents. The Phare Circus serves as a platform for them to earn a decent livelihood, altering the course of their lives, hence breaking the web of impoverishment.
