Angkor Thom South Gate - After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to visit the most famous temples, starting at the south gate of Angkor Thom. This gate is the most popular with visitors as it has been fully restored, with many of the heads still in place. It is located on the main road into Angkor Thom from Angkor Wat.
Bayon Temple - Built in the late 12th century, nearly 100 years after Angkor Wat, the Bayon Temple’s basic structure and earliest parts are not well known. Located at the center of a royal city, it likely originally served as a temple-mountain symbolizing Mount Meru. The temple was extended during its second phase of construction, and the Bayon of today belongs to the third and final phase of its art style. The temple is known for its grand architectural scale and composition, with over 200 large faces carved on 54 towers, giving it a majestic character. These faces, with their slightly curving lips and downcast eyes, are generally accepted to be images of the bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, signifying the omnipresence of the king.
Baphuon Temple - Baphuon stands on a rectangular sandstone base with five levels of approximately the same size, rather than the more common form of successively smaller levels. The first three levels are surrounded by sandstone galleries. Baphuon is the first structure to feature stone galleries with a central tower. Two libraries in the shape of a cross with four porches stand in the courtyard, originally connected by an elevated walkway supported by columns.
Phimeanakas - Situated near the center of the Royal Palace area, Phimeanakas temple was originally crowned with a golden pinnacle. Built of roughly hewn sandstone blocks, it has little decoration.
Terrace of the Elephants - The elephants, ridden by servants and princes, tread quietly as if on a promenade. The steps are of even length, with no respect for obstacles. The forest they travel through is impenetrable to all but tiny creatures and the largest animals, which create paths through the vegetation.
Terrace of the Leper King - This terrace continues the theme of grandeur from Jayavarman VII’s reign, with dramatic bas-reliefs on both the interior and exterior. During clearing, a second wall with similar bas-reliefs was found, believed to be evidence of later rites. A false corridor has been created to allow visitors to inspect the reliefs on the first wall.
Ta Prohm Temple - Ta Prohm is the capital of the kingdom of the Trees, left untouched by archaeologists except for clearing a path for visitors and structural strengthening. The temple, shrouded in dense jungle, conjures a romantic aura with fig, banyan, and kapok trees spreading their roots over stones and intertwining branches forming a roof over the structures. The charm of the place is inescapable as the roots have wound themselves around the walls and towers.
Angkor Wat - The largest and best-preserved monument of the Angkor group, Angkor Wat is an architectural masterpiece. Its perfection in composition, balance, proportions, reliefs, and sculpture make it one of the finest monuments in the world. It is generally accepted that Angkor Wat was a funerary temple for King Suryavarman II, oriented to the west to symbolize the setting sun and death. The bas-reliefs, designed for viewing from left to right in the order of Hindu funereal ritual, support this function.
Phnom Bakheng - A temple mountain in honor of the Hindu god Shiva, Phnom Bakheng is one of the oldest temples in the Angkor Archaeological Park. Located on a 60-meter high hill, it offers magnificent sunset views over Angkor Wat.

Departure from Siem Reap to Battambang with sightseeing, B
Bamboo Train Battambang - The bamboo train, or ‘norry,’ is a simple yet essential form of transport in Cambodia. Unlike the once-a-week passenger train, it is fast, always on time, and fun to ride. The bamboo train can reach speeds of about 30km/h, with the tracks just a few centimeters below the passengers. When two bamboo trains meet, the one with the smaller load gives way to the larger one by lifting off the frame and axles.
Krong Battambang - Battambang, the second-largest city in Cambodia, features beautiful colonial buildings and traditional Cambodian houses, some over 100 years old. Visit local villages to see products like sun-dried bananas, Khmer noodles, cakes, sticky rice cooked in bamboo, and Khmer fish paste.
Battambang Central Market - A centralized market structure routes all orders to one central exchange, keeping trades fair, doing more business, and speeding up the buying/selling process.
White Elephant Pagoda (Wat Tahm-rai-saw) - An important sightseeing spot in Battambang, the White Elephant Pagoda is known for its architectural significance and entertainment options, including classical dancing and traditional music. During the Khmer New Year festival, the streets near the temple are filled with celebrations, including the ritual of throwing water mixed with colored powder for good luck.
Cambodia Peace Gallery (Cambodia Peace Museum) - This museum focuses on Cambodia’s recovery and engagement in peace efforts worldwide, highlighting the country’s history beyond war.
Phnom Sampeau - One of Cambodia’s most popular attractions, Phnom Sampeou means ‘Ship Mountain’ due to its shape. The 100-meter high mountain, topped by Wat Sampeou, contains three natural caves with Buddhist shrines and statues. Some caves were used by the Khmer Rouge as killing caves, with skeletons still remaining. The wat is approached by a flight of 700 stairs, offering spectacular views.
Battambang Bat Caves - At the foot of Phnom Sampeou, millions of bats pour from caves at sunset for a night of hunting, creating a spectacular sight.
Ta Dumbong Kro Aung Statue - The town of Battambang is named after Ta Dumbong, a cow herder who found a magic black stick and used it to dethrone the king. The statue commemorates this legend.

An estimated 20,000 people were imprisoned here. The museum serves as a reminder of the atrocities committed during this period.
