Immerse yourself in Cambodia’s recent history and artistic traditions on a private Siem Reap city tour. Explore the War Museum, Wat Thmei, and Artisans d’Angkor workshop, and shop for souvenirs at the Old Market.
- War Museum Cambodia - We pick up you at the lobby of your hotel and transfer to the War Museum where is houses a wide array of weapons and military vehicles collected from Cambodian battlefields and will shed a light on the recent years of turmoil and explain what shaped the country you see today.
- Wat Thmey (Killing Fields) - Then, we go to visit Wat Thmei, the Memorial of Victims of the Khmer Rouge Regime, is another sobering reminder of the recent, turbulent past of Cambodia.
- Artisans Angkor - Next, visit Artisans d’Angkor workshop where skilled artists produce gorgeous pieces of lacquer, stone carvings and silver plating and seeing them at work shows the positive direction of the path Cambodia finds itself on today.
- Psar Chaa - Old Market - After that we explore and expect Old Market will have what you are looking for. Browse and use your bartering skills to bring home your memories of Siem Reap.
- Preah Enkosey Temple - Finally we visit Preah Enkosey, the only temple from the Siem Reap period still standing in modern Siem Reap. It was built in the mid-tenth century by Divakarabhata, a high-ranking Brahmin who married Rajendravarman II’s daughter (r. 944-968). The temple has two sanctuaries side by side, with the central sanctuary aligned with the east gopura. The site’s symmetry suggests that a third tower was part of the original design, but it was either never finished or completely destroyed (the lack of any foundation stones suggests the former). Return to hotel and drop off.
