Wat Athvear Temple - The Wat Athvea complex comprises a modern pagoda Wat Athvea built next to an ancient temple from the Angkorian period Prasat Wat Athvea. The Pagoda of Wat Athvea is a contemporary Buddhist temple, located next to the eponymous Angkorian temple. It is a place of worship which is home to a dozen orange-clad Buddhist monks. The monks, from teenage to venerable old men, provides religious services and blessings, as well as counselling, and help the poorest members of the nearby communities, then we meet the resident monks and participate in a private good luck blessing ceremony and wishing you good health and a safe journey, performed by local monks. Sit on the mat while the monks chant blessings and sprinkle holy water on you – a traditional way which is believed pass on the good luck of the gods. Afterwards, a sacred thread will be tied around your wrist. This will protect you from any evil spirits or accidents – a memorable experience.
