Simply the Best! - I had the BEST time this morning on the countryside Vespa tour with Handsome and Sopheak! Their driving is safe and I had a blast on the Vespa! The stops were perfect, a nice combination of sightseeing and tastings of local Cambodian foods and drink, along with seeing local life away from the busier villages/cities. Every place we stopped was interesting and entertaining, and the people were beyond kind. I truly loved this tour.

Highly recommend this tour! - We have just finished our Siem Reap Countryside Tour by Vespa with Lyna and Mut - what a fabulous way to spend the morning! Highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in learning more about Cambodian agriculture or life in rural areas. Combine that with essentially a food tour as you visit local villages and learn about how different products such as bamboo sticky rice, rice wine and khmer rice noodles are made. We were also able to visit a local market and try traditional breakfast food and watch a lady weaving baskets by hand - she let us try as well. Our tour guide had excellent English and took the time to explain about life in Cambodia and answer all of our questions. We felt very safe as both Lyna and Mut were fantastic drivers and were very respectful and helpful. Highly recommend this tour for all ages and abilities.

Amazing cultural experience! - We had an amazing time with Phearon and his colleagues. As our first time in Cambodia, we wanted to do something different in addition to the standard Angkor Way temple visit. This tour was perfect. Phearon picked us up exactly on time and gave us a proper briefing. He put our comfort and safety first. We first went to the local market, then a temple, then tried rice wine and bamboo sticky rice, and finished with understanding how rice noodles are made. We also met a lovely lady who makes baskets for a living and bought a few items to support her. We are vegetarian so we did not try many of the foods in the market, but we nevertheless had a great time seeing how the locals in the village live. I would suggest to bring USD cash with you, to support the local people who spend time to make us the rice, rice wine and noodles. For anyone coming to Cambodia I would 100% recommend this.

From Sticky Rice to Local Markets: Cambodia by Vespa - My husband and I took a Vespa tour, and our guides were Lyna and Phearon. We made several stops during the tour. The first stop was a local market. Markets always impress me with the rawness of the exposed dead animals. Part of me knows that, ethically, becoming vegan or vegetarian would be the best choice—but that’s a conversation for another day. During the tour, I met two adorable yellow kittens with the shortest tails I’ve ever seen. I wasn’t feeling well at all. I have a cold, and my body is tired from so many days of traveling and countless tours. But animals always manage to bring a smile to my face, especially the cats. Another stop was learning how they make sticky rice. They cook it inside bamboo over a fire. In my opinion, it seems like a lot of work, and the result is just a simple snack. I suppose they keep the method more out of tradition and habit, rather than because it’s an especially delicious dish. I mean, it’s not bad, but there’s nothing particularly spectacular about it either. We also got to try their local alcohol, which came in various flavors. Some of the ingredients I noticed were banana, pineapple, and lemongrass. The alcohol is quite strong, and we found out it’s not easy for tourists to get—it’s not sold in their bars. Perhaps it would be a good idea for some of the many bars on Pub Street to offer it, even if just to provide tourists with a more authentic experience. My husband even bought the banana-flavored one to take home, which also had a hint of cinnamon. As I mentioned earlier, I wasn’t feeling well, and I was really grateful for the warmth and kindness of the guides. They went out of their way to get me tissues on one occasion and a hot tea on another to help me feel better. I’ve confirmed during this trip through Southeast Asia that one of the best things about it is the people. They are authentic, kind, happy, and warm. They genuinely care about you and always do whatever they can to make sure you feel good and comfortable. We also met a kind woman with a warm smile who makes baskets for a living. In this capitalist world, we know that it’s usually the middleman who takes the most profit from selling her baskets. The woman makes around 10 baskets a day, and we had the chance to help her briefly, learning how the rattan is woven together to form the basket. It gave me comfort to know that at least she spends her time weaving, which is both therapeutic and keeps her occupied. Another memorable stop was a local family business where they make rice noodles. We ate there and even took a nap afterward! The Cambodian people are happy and peaceful, and I believe it’s because they live simple lives, close to their families and nature. I didn’t dare to try the duck eggs. “Balut”, known locally as Pong Tea Khon, is a fertilized duck egg with a partially developed embryo inside. The egg is boiled and eaten directly from the shell. It’s seasoned with salt, pepper, and fresh herbs like basil, and served with lemon juice. It has a unique texture, combining the liquid inside with the yolk, and some parts of the embryo are already formed. Neither my husband nor I were brave enough to try it. The tour felt truly authentic, and for those of us used to the comforts of the West, it can be a bit of a culture shock. For example, I visited a local family’s home and used their squat toilet. That’s part of why we travel—to explore new things and gain perspective. Everything we encounter broadens our understanding of the world. We also visited a pagoda, saw the countryside, and got a glimpse of how Cambodians live. It’s a country where 85% of the population works in agriculture. Today’s journey reminded me of a passage I once read somewhere: "The world's most primitive people have few possessions, but they are not poor. Poverty is not a certain small amount of goods, nor is it just a relation between means and ends; above all it is a relation between people. Poverty is a social status. As such it is the invention of civilization." — Marshall Sahlins

Fantastic Vespa Tour on the country side - Fantastic Vespa tour on the countryside of Siem Reap. I really liked seeing the rural villages, local markets and little family businesses which didn’t feel touristic at all. The drivers are driving very careful and it felt save at all times. Even our 8 year old enjoyed the tour a lot and had a lot of fun!

Highly recommend this tour to anyone coming to Siem Reap and looking for an authentic local experience. Thank you again to our great drivers Luk and Pheak! Both were fantastic and really enjoyed their company and commentary.
