Embark on a 4-hour evening street food tour in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Explore the local culinary scene, sample traditional Khmer dishes, and try exotic foods. Limited to a small group for an intimate experience.

Duration: 3 hours
Cancellation: 24 hours
Highlights
  • Siem Reap - It’s true that Cambodian cuisine shares common dishes with its neighboring countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, China, even India, and is influenced by the remnants of French colonial days. Khmers, however, had found creative ways to put in a dash of their style and flavor.

Get ready to have a taste of Siem Reap’s street food, by hopping into a remork-moto, commonly known as tuk tuk, as we pick you up from your hotel. We’ll go beyond tourist zones for the most enjoyable local street food adventure. Your knowledgeable food tour guide will lead you to explore Siem Reap’s streets to sample local snacks, such as yellow bean cake or Khmer rice cake. We’ll check out the tropical fruits in season and let you have a taste of unique fruits such as dragon fruit, lychee, tiny but sweet pineapples, longan, rambutan and mangosteen (depends on seasons). Either you hate it or you love it, we dare you to sample the king of tropical fruits – durian (depends on season)

  • Siem Reap - We’ll take you where the locals meet, eat and hang-out - in a picnic area where endless stalls are set-up in the early evening. Walk through the length of the street and explore various stalls selling fruits, snacks and cooked food, clothes, homewares, kitchen wares and everything in between. Eat snacks the Cambodian way and if you’re up for an adventure, try out a variety of exotic snacks such as fried tarantulas (seasonal), crunchy crickets, frogs, fried scorpions (seasonal) and duck eggs. Bring out the foodie in you by picking from a variety of dishes such as skewered barbecue meat and fish, Khmer fried chicken, green mango with chili and salt, savory jackfruit etc.

  • Siem Reap - The fun continues as we try more Khmer food dishes at the local small place a long the street.

Great night out with Nak! - Really great tour with Nak! He was very knowledgeable about Siem Reap and the food there. It was exciting to taste a wide range of different foods. Recommend the fried frog - tastes just like pork crackling! Highly recommend if you are in Siem Reap.

I ate a Cricket - First, thank you Nak for such a memory filled Food Tour by Tuk Tuk! At the beginning we had asked Nak if we should be concerned about getting sick from what we were about to eat, he told us he only went to sanitary places. True to his word, none of us had any issues. We stopped at (3) local restaurants and tried delicious food. I wish I could remember the proper names of what we ate - kabobs, rice dishes, a fermented salad, pancakes (my favorite) a green smoothie type beverage, sweet rice, ramen, desserts at the evening street market. I even ate a cricket (it was very good). We passed on fried tarantulas, grubs and other misc delicacies, but if you are adventurous, this is the place to try it. We walked the market and returned to our hotel. Nak had great knowledge of Cambodian history, ingredients of the food we ate, his English was fantastic. He was BY FAR the best guide we had during our 38 day travels in SE Asia.

Fantastic Night Tuk Tuk experience - Sath was our guide and was a lovely man with a huge amount of knowledge on the food we were eating and was delightful to share a meal with explaining what we were eating and how to eat it. My son loved sharing the crickets and tarantulas with Sath and shared lots of stories. Would highly recommend Sath and this tour.

Give it a try you might like it - We really enjoyed this experience as a family with a 20 year old boy and girl. Our guide Ty Sath was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. It gives you the opportunity to eat insects and other food you would not normally risk. We found most were nice to eat. The only downside was the 4 course meal at the and that was ok because we already had enough to eat. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Sath is the real deal! - Sath was amazing. As was our Tuk Tuk driver, Mr Crab (😂). Sath made sure I had a great time, taught me so much, and was very generous and kind. If you are in Siem Reap, and want a food tour, or any kind of tour, be sure to seek him out. He was great, and we had so much food I think I gained 17 lbs! 😂😂. 10/10, highly recommend!

Motivated guide - unfortunately only partially suitable for vegetarians! - We have already done food tours in a few cities and unfortunately Siem Reap doesn't have much to offer vegetarians. Our guide gave us a lot of information and sometimes a little too much. Whether in the tuk-tuk or in the restaurant. This is very kind feedback, everything is new for tourists, the road conditions, the place, the people and especially the food. You don't want to talk or listen all the time, but you also want to really let everything in, take a look and soak it up. The constant input and the change of location with the tuk-tuk made the evening a bit stressful. A few stops on foot would have been good. Due to the adjustment of the vegetarian tour, dessert was somehow omitted even though it was announced - I thought that was a bit of a shame. I also read in the description of the tour that fruit is also tasted - we didn't do that either. Overall, you definitely get enough to eat with and without meat. You go home with a full stomach. I would recommend that the agency behind these tours develop better thought-out tours in the future. Being vegetarian or vegan is no longer exotic these days and since this tour is aimed specifically at tourists and is therefore rather expensive, the needs of tourists should be taken into account. In addition, the tour is offered with different descriptions on different platforms. Finally, it should be said that our guide really made an effort and was super friendly and we may have expected too much from the food in Cambodia.
