Siem Reap Sunset Food Tour: An immersive Khmer cuisine experience by Tuk-tuk

Experience an immersive Khmer cuisine adventure in Siem Reap with our Sunset Food Tour. Indulge in unlimited food, beer, and soft drinks while exploring local eateries and witnessing the vibrant Khmer life.

Duration: 4 hours
Cancellation: 24 hours
Highlights
  • Siem Reap - In Temple Town, there’s endless touristy restaurants pushing the same myth and menu about Cambodian food: beef loklak, fish amok, and green curry. But if you look closely, there are no local customers, and the chefs are eating something different in the back room. Millions of people come to Siem Reap completely missing what food here truly is.

That’s why we spent months on squat boats, knee deep in mud with water buffalo, and exploring countryside villages where locals eat the real stuff. Because it’s not just about the food, but where it comes from and who prepares it. We’ve built strong relationships with the local community to offer you an incredibly unique and authentic experience.

We’ve met the servers, the chefs, and the farmers behind every grain of rice and drop of fish sauce, to put together a one-of-a-kind experience. The food you’ll eat features ingredients and recipes that are made in Siem Reap by locals whose roots date back to the Era of God-Kings.

Additional Information

Savor unrestricted food, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages on this tuk-tuk exploration of Siem Reap’s local gastronomy and witness a different aspect of Cambodia, one that’s abundant in native Khmer living, zest, and flavors.

Our journey takes us to 4 genuine food spots plus a neighborhood bar, incorporating local street food from the oldest vendor in town, the only establishment in town offering traditional Kula ethnic minority dishes, along with enjoying beers as we watch the livestock return home during sunset in a bucolic village. And there’s plenty more to experience!

My hosts and I have put in considerable effort to develop an extraordinary experience that is not replicable elsewhere. Both my hosts and our vendors are deeply integrated in Siem Reap’s society, and our entire culinary selection comes directly from Siem Reap province, right down to the home-produced fermented fish and garlic-chilli sauces.

Delicious Sunset Food Tour - Add it to your Itinery! - The knowledge of our guide (Sann) was impeccable, we were very well looked after, and loved the experience! We enjoyed all aspects of the tour, but the highlight was meeting a local family, and dining with them in their home. Absolutely recommend this tour, as it took us to eateries that we would never have even thought about trying, as non-locals!

An authentic cultural experience. - Great tour. Nothing fancy but authentic local Cambodian food which I think made it special and genuine. The home visit with home cooked meal was a cultural experience. Our guide Hong was very friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging with the guests. I highly recommend this tour.

So much to see, do and eat - It was amazing how many things we were able to see and do (and taste) in such a short time. The food was amazing and varied. The trip outside to see the rice and lotus fields and share a meal with locals was a highlight. Both our guide Hong and local host Vet were so kind and let us into their lives. The only problem was that we were all so full at the end.

Wonderful tour & Yummy Food - When you're traveling, don't miss out on trying the local food! I highly recommend going on a safe and delicious food tour. The food menu during the tour is absolutely delicious, and each place has a nice and fresh atmosphere. Plus, the tour guide "Lj" is an expert in local food and culture, and knows all about the local people's favorites.

Great food and awesome guides - Amazing local food and Borey was an awesome guide. We learned so much about the history of Cambodia as well as the food culture. The places we went were off the beaten path and we would not have found them without Lost Plates. We also made great friends on the tour! This is a must on your trip to Siem Reap.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ You’ll regret if you miss this unforgettable experience! - Can’t give it enough stars and recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about the Khmer way of life ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Amazing food tour - both as a way to taste local food (which you would normally walk past without trying) but also to learn about local cultures and how they live and work! Not only do you get to immerse yourself amongst the super friendly local hosts, you get a chance to support local communities and businesses ❤️ And a special shoutout to my guides - Leng Cheng and Pon, both of whom have given me an unforgettable experience with their knowledge, their experience and most importantly their passion for spreading the Khmer culture to the rest of the world - total 💎 !

What a great experience with an amazing guide (Borey) and friendly driver (Koko) - It was a wonderful culinary experience with a great guide, Borey, and a friendly tuk-tuk driver, Koko. We visited many restaurants for the local food but the highlight is that we went to the countryside, watched the sunset and had dinner with a local family, which was very tasty! Siem Reap is beautiful, friendly, and calm, and the people there are alike. Don't miss the sunset time, you will like it a lot! Could not recommend this tour more. Thank you, Borey, Koko, and Lost Plate!

Lost Plate didn’t disappoint- everything was top notch! - Hong is an excellent guide. She was friendly and profesional, she took great care of us. She told us great stories about Cambodia over remork ride, tasty food & great cocktails. We enjoyed her company and her passion about building sustainable tourism in Siem Reap. We’re rooting for her! Will definitely recommend her to all my friends!! The tour was pricey but we got our money worth. There were only the two of us in the group so it was more like a private tour. We experienced having a meal in a local people’s house, seeing how the locals live - priceless! Thanks Lost Plate!
