It’s the highest part of the terraces surrounding the Royal Square of Angkor Thom. Constructed in the late 12th century during the reign of Jayavarman VII, the terrace was named after a statue that appeared to have leprosy due to moss and discoloration. Coincidentally, Yasovarman I, the king who moved the Khmer empire’s capital near Angkor Wat, died of leprosy.
