She might have come to the area with Saint John, who spent several years spreading Christianity here. Pope Paul VI was the first to visit in the 1960s, and in the 1980s, Pope John-Paul II declared it a pilgrimage site for Christians.
The Temple of Artemis - Learn about Artemis, the Greek goddess of wild animals, the hunt, and childbirth. Her most famous cult site was the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The temple was destroyed by arson on July 21, 356 BC, the same night Alexander the Great was born. Although Alexander offered to rebuild it, the Ephesians refused. The temple was eventually restored after his death but was later destroyed again by the Goths. Today, little remains of the Artemision, but you can visit to imagine its former magnificence.
Selcuk - After the visits, enjoy lunch at a restaurant in Selcuk. During the tour, you’ll also have the opportunity to explore local Turkish handicrafts.

Great Ephesus tour experience - We had a wonderful experience during the Ephesus & Virgin Mary House private tour.Our guide Tijen Oral was knowledgeable & friendly.Driver Suleyman was courteous & professional. Note- we did not include lunch in our trip.
