- Thean Hou Temple - Thean Hou Temple stands as one of the oldest and largest temples in Southeast Asia. Located southwest of the city along Jalan Klang Lama, it is a popular tourist destination. Overlooking the Federal Highway, this six-tiered Buddhist temple is also known as the Temple of the Goddess of Heaven.
Dedicated to Tian Hou, a goddess believed to protect fishermen, the temple also serves as a shrine where many come to worship Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. Built by Kuala Lumpur’s Hainanese community in 1894, it is set on a hill and offers stunning views of the city.
- Little India Brickfields - Little India Brickfields offers a vastly different experience compared to nearby Bangsar. As Malaysia’s official Little India, Brickfields was once a simple residential neighborhood just outside Kuala Lumpur but has recently transformed into a bustling street filled with Indian stores and restaurants run by the country’s Indian community.
The shops here sell everything from traditional Indian goods such as saris, flower garlands, spices, and Bollywood music, to local delicacies like vadai and thosai (Indian pancakes made from fermented rice flour). Since its transformation, Little India Brickfields has become one of Kuala Lumpur’s iconic tourist hotspots, not only for its unique offerings but also for its proximity to KL Sentral station.
- Istana Negara - Istana Negara is Malaysia’s National Palace. Built in 1928 along Jalan Istana, this 13-acre palace was once the official residence of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) of Malaysia. In June 2011, it was replaced by a new, extravagant RM800 million palace near Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur.
Like the old palace, the new RM800 million complex is not open to the public. Visitors can only catch a glimpse of the magnificent and opulent complex from outside its entrance gates along Jalan Duta. Construction of the new palace began in mid-2007 and was fully completed in June 2011.
- Perdana Botanical Garden - Tun Abdul Razak Heritage Park offers hours of fun activities and sightseeing opportunities for all visitors, from nature lovers to families with children. Commonly known as Lake Gardens, this expansive 227-acre park is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and is accessible via buses, taxis, and KTM rail services. The park is open daily from 07:00 to 20:00, and while entry is free, certain landmarks within the grounds may require an entrance fee.
One of the largest urban parks in the city center, it was originally established by Alfred Venning, the 19th-century British state treasurer to Malaya, in the 1890s. Among the park’s most significant landmarks is the majestic Carcosa Seri Negara, the official residence of former British government representative Frank Swettenham, located on one of the park’s hills. Over the past 20 years, the park’s spectacular landscaping has become even more impressive.
- Lake Symphony - In this spectacular fountain scene, dozens of water jets in the park’s artificial lake shoot up into the air, with colorful beams of light dancing through the water. The harmony of water and bright colors makes the scene more sparkling and radiant. With two fountains featuring an intelligent display of water, Symphony Lake has five programs with 380 individually sequenced effects of water that shoot up to a maximum height of 42 meters.
While waiting for the show to start around 8 pm, visitors can enjoy shopping at the nearby Suria KLCC, which houses over 320 high-end local and international retailers, including brands like Coach, Kate Spade, and Jimmy Choo. But don’t forget to return to Lake Symphony to catch the KLCC fountain water show!
- The River of Life - The River of Life in Kuala Lumpur has been listed among the world’s top 10 Waterfront Districts by The Independent, a UK-based online news portal. Featuring a Dancing Symphony Fountain, Blue Corridor, fog, and lighting effects, visitors can expect a stunning visual experience when visiting this stretch of riverfront in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Arrive around 9 pm to catch the show, which occurs every 15 minutes until 10 pm.
- Saloma Link Bridge - Conclude your night tour with a visit to Saloma Bridge. This beautiful bridge is a heartfelt tribute to Saloma, a famous Malaysian singer and actress known as the “Queen of Malay Cinema” in the late 1950s, serving as a living memorial to her.
As day turns into night, the Saloma Bridge transforms into a stunning display of colors, lighting up the Klang River with its magical glow, making it a must-see sight that visitors will never forget.
