Delicious and educational - Joell was great. We met at Central Market and walked and learned about the city and its history while exploring amazing food. My wife and I are vegetarian and I am also gluten intolerant, and despite our food limitations Joell to not skip a step and found delicious options for us. Take this tour you won’t be disappointed.

A Culinary Adventure in Kuala Lumpur with Manjeet Dhillon: A 110% Must-Experience - If you’re visiting Kuala Lumpur and love food, Manjeet Dhillon’s 10 Tastings Food Tour is an absolute must. We’ve been on food tours around the world, and this one with Manjeet stands out as an unforgettable experience, thanks to her knowledge, charisma, and attention to detail. Manjeet is a true gem—her deep understanding of the local cuisine, culture, and history made this tour more than just about eating. She listened intently to what we liked and tailored the experience to ensure it was perfect for us. Each stop was thoughtfully planned, with just enough time between tastings to savor, digest, and explore the vibrant streets of Kuala Lumpur. Manjeet’s connections in the community were evident, as every shop owner greeted her warmly, making us feel like VIPs wherever we went. The food itself was exceptional. From the tangy explosion of pani puri to the comforting flavors of beef rendang (minang style), every dish told a story. Highlights included the creamy nasi lemak with northern-style chicken rendang, the buttery goodness of roti canai, and the fragrant curry laksa. Manjeet also introduced us to local fruits like mangosteen, snake fruit, rambutan, rose apple, and longan, which were a delightful discovery. To top it off, the sweet indulgences of pulut tai tai with kaya and pineapple jam tarts perfectly balanced the savory dishes. And let’s not forget the classic kopi C, which gave us a taste of Malaysia’s coffee culture. What set this tour apart was how Manjeet seamlessly combined food with storytelling. As she walked us through the Central Market and surrounding areas, she shared the rich history of Kuala Lumpur, the stories behind each dish, and the cultural significance of the places we visited. It felt less like a tour and more like being guided through the city by a knowledgeable friend. If you’re considering this tour, don’t hesitate. Manjeet deserves more than 5 stars—she’s a 110% must-experience guide who will make your visit to Kuala Lumpur unforgettable. Book with her, and you’ll walk away not only full of delicious food but also with a deep appreciation for Malaysia’s culture and cuisine.

KL food tour - Siddoz was a very knowledgeable guide and took us to lots of local food stops in the Central Market/China Town region. The tour went for three hours and we felt like we had a very generous amount of food. Siddoz answered all of our questions about Malaysia! A great way to start our holiday!

Very disappointing - beware - Before I start I'll say that I've contact Withlocals through Viator as well as email with no response. Unfortunately this tour was awful quality despite the other excellent reviews. I went on the tour with my husband, cousin, and her boyfriend. We all had done several food tours- my cousin had done one in Penang a few days earlier which she said was excellent. Our tour guide was deeply uninterested- to start, when we asked how he was at the beginning of the tour, he said “tired”. He did not explain more than one sentence about where we were walking at any point. When we got to the food spots he did not tell us about the food, the restaurant, or why it fits into the Malaysian cuisine. We made 6 stops with the 2nd being an Indian restaurant where we were served an enormous amount of the same food which left us stuffed for the final 4 stops. The guide couldn’t answer our questions about what we were eating and was mostly away from us on his phone or smoking. He often asked us to go walk into places alone - the a market or a temple - without talking to us about them or giving us any context. He would stand outside on his phone or smoking while we did this. Having done several food tours prior this was a deeply disappointing experience and not remotely worth the cost.

Worst Food Tour I’ve Ever Been On! - If I could give 0 stars I would! On Dec 30/24 my cousin booked this tour for us (her/husband, myself/bf) and all of us have done MANY food tours before and can confidently say without a doubt this was the worst by far…like comically bad! I should note my cousin has messaged viator and the company directly about our experience with no response so I’m writing here. Zach was our guide and upon first meeting we greeted him and asked how he was doing to which he unenthusiastically responded that he was tired…interesting way to get things started. Then he told us to go into the mall/market and look around alone. Kind of a weird way to start the tour but ok… After that we had what was probably my fav thing in the whole tour. The green cake like thing cooked in bamboo and rolled in coconut. We had to wait 10 or so mins for it. Not a big deal but he could have started the order while we walked around the mall by ourselves, just a suggestion. Then he showed us some temples and took us to an Indian place. He didn’t go in the temple with us so it was kinda useless as we didn’t know what we were looking at. At the Indian place it was just tons of bread and dips, no real variation just multiple types of bread that filled us up so much we really couldn’t enjoy the rest of the your food. Also no rice on the banana leaf which is typically what I’ve had at these types of tastings. No protein either. This was the only place we were offered a drink - 1 bottle of water each. He sat outside on his phone most of the tastings. For all of the tastings there was barely any explanation as to what we were eating or why he picked this place or this food. Literally no enthusiasm, it was so weird. I actually wondered if the real guide was sick and he just had his friend filling in for him because I couldn’t believe what was happening. Next we walked through a counterfeit market until we finally got to a Chinese restaurant. Again no explanation unless we asked what we were eating. The soups were decent. After that a piece of fruit in sour plum spice, then a minute late we split 4 bao. This and a couple of small pieces of meat in the soup were the only proteins of the whole tour. 2 steps away from the bao we split something like 2 spicy spring rolls between the 4 of us..again not much description given on what we were eating or why it was chosen to properly describe or name it. Then the tour abruptly ended in just under 2 hours. I calculated and it cost the tour under $10/person for the food so definitely not worth the tour cost and we would have had more enjoyment if we picked our own foods and ate what we wanted. The tour has great reviews and the pics look wonderful so this was SUPER DISAPPOINTING since we’ve all done multiple food tours in multiple countries. I did one in Penang just 2 days prior that was amazing. Zach was awful so maybe just make sure he’s not your guide. Sorry I didn’t take pics I was just so unimpressed the whole time I didn’t see the point.
