St. Peter’s Catholic Church: After the Portuguese captured Melaka in 1511, the Roman Catholic Church held significant influence until the Dutch took over in 1641. The Calvinist Dutch then destroyed Catholic churches and banned their practices.
- A Famosa Fort - Porta De Santiago (A Famosa): The A’ Famosa fortress, with its 3-meter thick walls and 40-meter watchtower, played a crucial role in protecting the Portuguese from their enemies. It was the most famous and symbolic fortress built by the Portuguese.
- St. Paul’s Hill & Church (Bukit St. Paul) - St. Paul’s Church: Enlarged to two stories in 1556, St. Paul’s Church was handed over to the Jesuits in 1548 by the Archbishop of Goa. Between 1567 and 1596, the Portuguese added gun turrets, turning it into a fortress.
- Red Square (Dutch Square) - Red Square: The salmon-pink Dutch administrative buildings now house the Melaka Museum and other government offices.
- Stadthuys - Stadthuys and Christ Church, the oldest Dutch building: Built between 1641 and 1660 on the ruins of a Portuguese fort, the Stadthuys is believed to be the oldest Dutch building in the East.
