- Batu Caves - Your first stop is the limestone hills of Batu Caves, which consist of three main caverns and several smaller caves. It is a shrine dedicated to Lord Murugah, a Hindu deity. A flight of 272 steps leads up to the temple cave. Another cave, known as the museum cave, is filled with images of deities and murals depicting scenes from Hindu scriptures.
Closed for 3 days during the Thaipusam Festival (the day before, the day of, and the day after the festival).
- Putra Mosque - Putra Mosque
This beautifully designed mosque draws architectural inspiration from the Safavid monuments of Iran. Non-Muslims can visit outside of prayer hours and can rent robes if not properly attired. The mosque can accommodate 15,000 worshippers at a time. The pink domes look stunning during the day under sunlight.
- Perdana Putra - Prime Minister’s Office (Perdana Putra)
While tourists cannot access the Prime Minister’s office, the building is well-designed and offers a great view. Nearby, Dataran Putra is the largest square in the city and hosts many cultural events. There is also a nearby shopping area known as the Souk, inspired by Middle Eastern street shopping culture.
- Millennium Monument - Millennium Monument
Situated on the waterfront of Putrajaya, the Millennium Monument is a 68-meter high tower inspired by the hibiscus flower, Malaysia’s national flower. Walking up the ramp inside the monument, you’ll see important landmarks in Malaysian history engraved on the glass sides. A lake garden next to the monument is a great place to relax. The Putrajaya Kite Festival and the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta are both held at this venue.
Palace of Justice
This building houses the Justice Museum, offering insights into the Malaysian legal system and its development. The museum features a mock-up court and biographies of all Chief Justices of Malaysia.
- Putrajaya International Convention Centre - Putrajaya Convention Centre: This is one of the most notable examples of modern architecture in the city. Its design is inspired by a spaceship, and its picturesque location is at the corner of Persiaran Perdana.
- Seri Wawasan Bridge, Putrajaya - Bridges of Putrajaya
Though mentioned last, the bridges of Putrajaya are certainly among its highlights. The Seri Perdana Bridge, Seri Wawasan Bridge, Seri Saujana Bridge, Putra Bridge, and the Putrajaya Monorail Bridge are all examples of architectural brilliance, each offering a unique view during the day and night.
