The town is renowned for its abundance of fireflies, making it a fantastic destination. Upon arrival, you’ll visit Bukit Melawati, which houses Fort Altingsburg. Atop the hill stands a lighthouse, surrounded by towering trees. Be particularly mindful of the local birds, silvered leaf monkeys, and recently, macaques. You’ll then proceed to Kampung Kuantan from a nearby fishing village for a traditional seafood meal before boarding a boat around 6:30 PM to observe the fireflies. The synchronized display of lights created by the multitude of fireflies is truly mesmerizing, reminiscent of a Christmas tree adorned with twinkling lights.
