In the morning, the driver and tour guide will collect guests from their hotel (within Kunming’s second ring road) and transport them to Yuan Tong Temple, a serene sanctuary amidst a bustling neighborhood. Visitors can experience Southern Buddhism, Northern Buddhism, and Tibetan Buddhism simultaneously. Following this, there will be a walk to the Jingxing Flower and Bird Market, which showcases the traditional lifestyle of Old Kunming, with numerous vendors offering flowers, birds, fish, insects, bamboo bongs, and pipes. Occasionally, one might observe elderly individuals “Liu Niao,” which involves taking their bird cages for a stroll in the park.
After lunch, the journey continues to the Western Hills. Here, cultural temples blend with natural cliffs, Taoist grottoes, flowers, and forests. Walking through the stone corridor carved into the cliff face, one can truly appreciate the perilous and challenging work involved in its construction. A visit to a large Taoist Grotto near the renowned Dragon Gate is included, and from the mountain’s summit, a breathtaking panoramic view of Kunming awaits. The day concludes with a return drive to Kunming.
