Kutaisi, Wine & Dine - Kutaisi
Kutaisi - The tour kicks off at 10 a.m. from Kutaisi’s central square. Here, the guide shares insights into the history of Georgia and Kutaisi. Kutaisi, Wine & Dine - Kutaisi
Kutaisi - The tour kicks off at 10 a.m. from Kutaisi’s central square. Here, the guide shares insights into the history of Georgia and Kutaisi. After capturing some photos at the fountain, the group heads to the central park, home to the statue of the sister “Ishkhnelebi” and the “9 April” memorial. We then pass by the Kutaisi city hall, Opera house, and visit the “Mon Plasir” arch. The tour continues past the first gymnasium to the white bridge, through the park of love, and to the Golden Marquee Palace. Finally, we visit the central grocery market known as “Mtsvane Bazari”.
Kutaisi Historical Museum - This museum houses ancient artifacts from Kutaisi and Georgia.
Bagrati Cathedral - After the museum, we drive up to Bagrati Cathedral, which offers a panoramic view of the city. Built in the 11th century, it stands as a symbol of a united Georgia.
Gelati Monastery - Next, we head to the 12th-century Gelati Monastery. The complex includes three large churches, an academy, the grave of David the Builder, a bell tower, and monks’ quarters. It was constructed by the renowned Georgian King David the Builder.
Motsameta Monastery - We then proceed to Motsameta Monastery, linked to the tale of the martyred brothers David and Constantine Mkheidze. Perched on a cliff and surrounded by a river on three sides, the monastery is set amidst stunning natural scenery.
Baia’s Wine - Around lunchtime, we visit the family-run “Baia’s Wine” in the village of Obcha, Bagdati municipality. Baia and her sister Gvantsa first show us their vineyard, located just behind their house. We then move to the wine cellar to sample various wines, including “Tsolikouri”, “Krakhuna”, “Aladasturi”, “Ojaleshi”, “Otskhanuri Sapere”, and “Chacha”. We conclude with a feast of Georgian cuisine, prepared by their mother, featuring the most delicious Imeretian dishes.
Kutaisi - Canyons & Cave - Kutaisi
Prometheus Cave - Prometheus Cave stretches 1.8 km and lies 40 meters below sea level. It features a hall of love where couples can even get married. Visitors can also enjoy an underground boat ride. Cool, right?
Martvili Canyon - After a delightful lunch, we head to Martvili Canyon for a boat tour, exploring its depths and waterfalls.
Okatse Canyon - The tour’s final stop is Okatse Canyon, the deepest canyon in Georgia, featuring hanging bridges and skywalks. To reach the bridge, you can either trek a 3 km route or take an off-road taxi, which offers an exhilarating experience.
