3 in one experience - Samurai training, history of samurais, and ninja star throwing experience. Must try if in Kyoto!! - Amazing Yama Sensei who taught us the fundamentals of the way of samurai and the usage of a katana. He was patient with all the participants and actively training us. After the samurai experience, we got to take some photos at the dojo also which was really cool. This lasted for about 45 minutes or so, and you can take videos at your expense, but be respectful of others around as time is ticking. After the samurai experience came the samurai museum tour where there were 3 sections. The history of Japan in terms of the hierarchical system, the showcasing of the samurai armours along with the historical katanas and the progression of military weapons in time, and introduction to some historical figures in time. (Around 20 minutes) Lastly, there was a ninja star shooting experience where you get to throw mimicked ninja star. (Around 15 minutes) After you are done with all of this, you get to dress in made-up samurai outfits and can take some cool phoots to keep as memorabilia. :)

What a wonderful... - What a wonderful experience! I reached the meetup point a bit late, and subsequently arrived at the event location when everyone had already received the basic instructions and were suited up. The instructor was still extremely gracious, and accommodated me into the class. He gave me solo instructions while ensuring others were getting ready to try the sword cutting experience. The instructions were right on point, since I sliced through the tatami mat like butter, one of the high points of my Japan travel! The best thing was when I was not satisfied with the angle of the sword after the (perfect cut) cut and was rambling on about how I should have had more control at the end of the swing. Sensei simply said - "A samurai does not speak". Loved it :) Thanks for a wonderful experience!

A fun and entertaining experience. Get in touch with your inner samurai. - The samurai tour at the museum was very informative and entertaining with Kazu as our guide. He took us through highlights and the battle of Sekigahara and the final samurai battle during the Meiji era. The ninja star competition was fun too. Thank you to Kiryu for your lesson on throwing ninja stars. Our adult son and daughter had a great time doing the samurai sword cutting experience. Everyone in the group had to listen and follow Yama-san’s instructions carefully as you are holding a very sharp samurai sword. It was a great experience and we (parents) were allowed to observe and film the sword cutting.
